That's a terrible idea. Sounds like a warranty repair. Dealer will decipher real issue, order you a new shock and/or bushing and fix in one day when the part comes in.

Do you think you'd be able to paint over the factory coating? Looks a few shades lighter than any of the factory black paint.. I may be wrong. is it a true powerder coat..? ideally not, that would make things easier to paint in the future.
