I really hope it doesnt come to it, but i started my lemonlaw claim. Jeep cares contacted me and i explained the situation. They are working with my service manager to figure out what to do. I dont want a new Gladiator, i just want mine to steer correctly. But like i told them, this is my only...
Please donāt try to adjust your sb. Once the tech realized the new new sb he installed on mine was actually worse than the original, he tried adjusting the it on the bench and mangled it. The adjustment screw would not move from the nut. That screw is aluminum and seemed to be welded to the nut...
S/N? Looking at the #ās on the white/black sticker on the steering box I noticed a difference that may indicate a batch #. Maybe Iām just losing my mind. T3P1889A1220 = off the train. T3P1889A1240 = even worse installed today. If that # means nothing, my bad.
They do agree with me. They said we are gonna talk about it in the morning. I had to go back anyways. But what are they gonna do, play musical steering box deliveries until a good one comes in?
Do I have to go thru the dealership I actually bought this at to Lemon Law it? Never had to do this before, but I think Iām done. Got the new steering box put in today....worse than the original.
Had a feeling someone would say that. Kinda makes sense. Where my brain is getting stuck is it should either have pressure or not. Not just exactly enough to make it work. Does it get better gas mileage with lower pressure? Lol
That must be where the computer is supposed to go that a few JL guys were saying a re-flash fixed their steering problems. Maybe Iām just not educated enough on the subject, BUT.... how can a steering box sector shaft play be fixed with electronics if the steering box has 2 hyd lines, 1 input...
Dam. Did you ever check/re-check your track bar bolts that others had issues with? Im only asking cuz maybe your new box is now exaggerating another issue. If you can see the same slop as before by turning the input shaft by hand like mine, then forget I even asked. Iām just hoping this is...
I agree. I just canāt get over the fact that this particular issue is so easily fixed at the manufacturer (as far as I can see). Itās a simple quality control check.
Can u turn the input shaft back and forth by hand?
No...Send it
Yes.....GARBAGE (or adjust it correctly then send it)
OMFG
I wonder if they (FCA) are going to look at the manufacturing of these steering boxes to find out how they are being sent out clearly bad. It really is as simple as some higher up making one phone call or even a visit to find out. Its so simple. WHO or WHAT is making the sector shaft lash so...
I guess I was just in a bad mood earlier. Anyways, sheās going in to get the new box put in on monday the 13th. I will post back here that evening with all the info you want.
Btw, I could not move the input shaft by hand on the new box, thatās a good start!
That is NOT normal! Same as mine. Anyways, hereās my update as of now...
My new steering box was delivered to the stealership yesterday. The soonest they could āget me inā is monday the 13th. And they are already trying to avoid giving me a loaner for the day. āWe can have the serv mgr drop...
The fix is 100% the steering box for me & most likely the same for everyone with the dead spot. Has nothing to do with the pump or the computer. You can see the play in the box with the truck not running. That ānon-adjustableā screw will fix most/all of the play because thats exactly what the...
