How much you wanna bet the bad clutch plates were manufactured by the same place where the bad steering boxes come from?
edit: not bashing who/where they were actually made. Correct me if im wrong, but isnt the final quality of all such parts on the company (FCA) who are paying for and building...
Its really sad. FCA/Jeep knows they have bad steering boxes (along with all the good ones) but it doesnt seem like they give a $hit because they are still producing these every day. I guess they can sleep at night because I guaranty you that none of the higher-ups have driven one like mine with...
I made mine just right by driving over them. Found that trick on the JL forum. I do not recommend doing it this way but I bent them just enough to be comfortable. Im pretty happy with my results.
I’m trying to do something to help, but I keep going in circles (not literally) and getting the ol’ run-around. I just don’t know who/how to contact someone in the FCA who actually cares and can do something about it.
They tell me I have to wait for the new box. IMO there isn’t even a...
For those who know they have a bad steering box from the factory/manufacturer.
JeepCares & FCAcares say Jeep is aware of the issue but I have my doubts.
New info: I have heard (3rd party) that 20 out of 20 of our steering boxes direct from Mopar are in fact bad. There is major valving and...
IMO this is their way out of the shitty situation they put themselves in. Take the stockpile of garbage steering boxes and put them in the new model, but advertise it first so no one will know we f’d up real bad to begin with. Im loving this.
edit: they should advertise it correctly and say it...
I can not believe that zero of you guys has a 3d printer or know someone who has one. If you can make this badge(s) please speak up. My money is green and you can have some of it. Just the Jeep for the tailgate would make me happy, thanx.
Not as simple to fix though. That has to be adjusted at the manufacturer, not when its installed in a vehicle. So they just need to send us good boxes unlike the garbage new one that came from mopar. Theres a pile of em and when you order one its luck of the draw, same as buying the Gladiator...
Maybe you dont get that it is 100% the steering box in many cases. I thought you meant more to the steering box problem, as in, a machining flaw inside Along with the adjustment screw.
Although, if it were more than just the adjustment screw, why would adjusting a bad box fix the problem as others have done? Just sayin
When the “revised” box 68418449AF does come out, im willing to bet the only difference will be that it comes calibrated correctly and the p/n s/n change...
Or would they? Maybe the guy who mention a past cover up is correct, maybe they are embarrassed, maybe the ones in charge dont even know because their guy tell them its a jeep thing. Or maybe it could be more than the one screw adjustment thats wrong like you said.
