Nah, the Trail edition is designed for minimalist profile while maximizing performance. We have a couple of customers who simply take off the tips of the dual for more rugged play.
On the JT, it's really just an outlet different. Tread has single or dual side outlets, so the sound is being pushed outward. The Trail exits underneath so there is some bounce back into the chassis off of the road I'd imagine (I haven't tested).
If you aren't SERIOUSLY wheeling, the Tread is...
Compared to the JL/JLU, the placement of the outlets is a lot more trail-friendly for most people. JL's like pancaking the stock mufflers. (You could always remove the tips on the AWE system as well for off-roading or get a conversion kit to swap to the over-axle Trail outlet when wheeling).
Thank you for noting the break-in sound mellowing of our systems. The heat cycling of the steel and the fine carbon layer that builds up in the tubing settles down the tone.
Sounds like it was a great show. I wasn't able to make it out this year due to family obligations but always a good time out there and seems to have rebounded considerably with record attendance for the last couple of shows there.
Thanks for the pics of the AWE JT!
OK oK... the Trail overaxle outlet potion is relatively easy to store. I'm going to try to see if I can measure one for you.
Update: I don't have any built to measure but it ships with the entire system in a 48" long box.
What's in the Can?
You might have heard us talking about our 180 Technology™ resonators that refine the tone, kill drone and offer straight-pipe performance. While this may seem like a fancy name for a muffler, 180 Technology™ uses acoustical engineering to cancel out unwanted tones.
Here is...
We haven’t seen evidence of the system effecting the rear tires. We’ve been across the USA and back wheeling along the way and everything is great! Exhaust sounds better after break in as well.
A couple of notes:
Our systems have a break in time of 1000miles. This mellows out the sound and allows the packing in the resonator to open up. We pack it tight to last. You'll also get carbon build up in the tubing as well which mellows things out a bit.
All of the JT systems are the same...
I ride Mountain and Gravel mostly and avoid the public roads these days. I used to ride 4-5 days a week, but now I'm lucky to get out for 1-2. My 14 year old son has shown and interest in mountain biking so we are doing some short rides every weekend to get him up to speed. I was a fairly...
