If you have the aluminum steering box, complain about it and see if they will change it because of the TSB. But the issue will still be present if you have the steel steering box if everything isn't torqued properly.
I did a video on my youtube channel a couple years ago where my steering box...
I have the metalcloak sector shaft brace on mine. It works. There's no in between when it comes to certain components. Either they work or they don't and the Metalcloak brace works. And it's not an expensive component. I have a the mopar lift with 3/4" spacer up front. No clearance issues. Even...
2019 Overland. 2.5" Mopar lift. 37x13.50-17" Yoko Geo X-AT tires. Quiet on the road up until about 30,000 miles (If you offroad and rock crawl). I got 52,000 miles out of my last set. I run American Racing Baja II wheels. They're light and not expensive so it doesn't bother me when I bash them...
Yea. There is a noticeable lag between the movement of the tires & steering wheel and what it displays on the dash. It would be interesting to see if that same lag is in the app as well.
While being funny, I agree with everything you said. Yoko says my tires are 36.9. At the pressures I run daily, it's more like 36.8 (maybe 36.7). This is another reason why it's more beneficial to do it yourself. Dealership probably won't do all of that.
Yep, you're right! And at some dealerships, it costs more. When all they're going to do is connect to the PCM and tell it that it has larger tires. There is no possible way that anyone should mess that up. Unless they can't count or read and don't know their tire size.
Jscan is pretty simple to...
Hmmm.... I didn't know about the centering the steering wheel option. That's awesome. But then again, the app probably has a lot more things since it's updated. Good information!!!
I second Jscan. It's a great option. Also, you can use it with other Chrysler vehicles. I use it on our JKU and parent's charger, ram, and caravan. All for less than $200. And like @cranbiz stated, get the extension cables.
These comments are hilarious!!!??? Most have nothing to do with the question.?‍♂️
Yes, the type of vehicle matters when it comes to offroading. But the biggest factors are your setup and who's behind the wheel.
I was going to say that another issue I had was the the four bolts for the box were not torqued either. Did a a video on that as well. Supposed to be 99 ft/lbs and one bolt was around 35.
But I just saw that they gave you the wrong box!!! Ummmm........ What the hell????? How does that happen??‍♂️
You're referring to the steel gearbox. But even after the gearbox replacement, the pitman arm nut, steering box bolts, and balljoints, etc. still have to be checked for proper torque. There have been issues with them coming from the factory not properly torqued.
Take it back. Some (not all) dealerships are doing the repairs correctly. I did a video on mine over two years ago about an issue immediately after my TSB replacement. It may or may not be your issue. But it's worth a look.
Do you have a write up on this? I mean.... some of us don't have the room for all of that back there because we use our JTs for other stuff. But, we might be able to find other locations for the equipment.
You did a very good job!!!! Two thumbs up!!!??
