Mine acted up too the first time I changed the wires around but it was my fault, I had my head upside down trying to figure out the wires when I laid under the dash looking up. When stood up to install the wires I did just the opposite. Had to re-do the two wires and everything was fine.

They all don't come in a box, some are delivered this way. Kinda how they transported our JTs.

There are multi millions of controllers in use out there, people either like them or not but they don't seem to blame the vehicle that their installed in. I wouldn't worry about it.

Your right I see its in the link you posted. I've been looking in the "build your jeep" area and haven't seen it to add on. I have noticed a rise in pricing since I've got mine. I dose look to be false advertising but as far as the safety issue goes, that is the responsibility of the operator...

I have seen a built in brake controller in our company f250 ford. It is not common to include the controller. If it is an optional accessory that's fine. Some people tow things that don't need brakes, some tow things that come with surge or hydraulic brakes. Jeep did advertise the controller...
