I'd get 4 eye bolts and do that in moment. I just hook to top of mine, it's a RLD topper, I've got U-strut on mine. I do know using 2x4s to lift my R.T.T. on and off is a P.T.A. So I understand your pain.
My hoist isn't that technical 3 4x4s with a screw winch outside.
That looks really good! I have an ARE cap and unfortunately it doesn't sound like soft tops work with ARE.
Do you have any pictures of the soft top open in "man bun" mode?
...I am done, I can say for certain I can install/un-install the soft top next time without removing the Alu-Cab... but I'll prefer to have my hoist in a useful spot on the garage ceiling (it was not for this swap process)... I could not use it... it's still where it was for our JKU.
Side Note...
...most likely wouldn't be as good of a fit for the day in and day out use... We don't yet have a garage so at this point I could use a hard top hoist, but could easliy build a rack to put it on if we needed to take it off... thought I will keep in mind the hard top hoist for when we do build a...
...a topper.
1. They are way more dust, mud & tree branch proof.
2. They are way more secure (from theves & prankster friends).
3. Alu-Cab products weigh less that some steel bed racks. They're aluminum... Just 125 lbs.
4. I remove mine (on occasion) with the hard top hoist we have for our...
Steven, it looks fantastic!! Great mods! Glad to see you’re still using it! I sold my second Gladiator last summer and am driving a Ford F-150 Lightning right now…
...has held up very well.
Also - some photos of it in use. It very versatile and IMHO the best mod I made to my JT.
Using a ceiling mounted hoist to take it on and off:
Carrying bikes - being able to raise and lower with a bike mounted...
Carrying large heavy items with confidence - my...
Nice. I still haven't gotten around to installing mine yet. Been working on my garage and can't get the Jeep in to hoist the top off. I'm hoping in a couple of weeks to get it done.
...I will post pics too.
Since my first post (above), asking for photos, I have since removed & reinstalled my Alu-Cab using our JKU Hard Top hoist. With that in mind I can easily move the topper back a few inches.
HOWEVER I am thinking there's enough between the Alu-Cab & the truck cab to get...
...don't forget drain plugs out its going to rain early afternoon's. :like: I bought the hardtop due to being faster and easier to put on or take off than a soft top. If you have a hoist.
So if one or other it would have to be top door's off/ tube door's. The heater or A.C. kinda helps still.
...to take off the clamps and try scooting the cap back about 3 or 4 inches, remove the hard top, and sit the soft top in. Going to be a pain removing the HT without a hoist and the SmartCap will not be a picnic but I think it will be better than completely removing. Got another month think it over
...In fact, some mods can actually hurt the value.
If all looks good there, the next step is a real close inspection of the unit on a hoist/lift. If the truck was wheeled off road, scrapes, dents and any damage will be clear to see. If the dealership wants to make a sale, they can do this...
