The biggest turnoff for me with the 4xe is the placement of the batteries. I regularly put the rear seats down flat in my JKUR to haul things (a honda grom fits back there!). The rear seats do fold, but they don't go flat on the 4xe. It was a deal breaker for me.
You will notice an improvement in handling if you go to the fox shocks from oem shocks. There are many well-regarded shocks out there that cost 1/2 or less of what Fox retail for if you are just looking for a change in road manners. Aftermarket fox shocks are valved differently from the mopar...
EGR cooler failed at 29k allowing coolant to mix with soot and block intake manifold valves. Jeep was still running and driving without issue, but CEL illuminated and self cleared. Otherwise no powertrane issues. EDT with every tank. Parts took approx 2 weeks to arrive at dealership (Jan 2023)
Final update: Source was a failing EGR cooler that allowed a small amount of coolant to mix with soot and foul the intake manifold valves. Replaced EGR, cooler, intake manifold, one fuel line. Will update this thread if the problem presents again.
Sorry to hear about your gladiator, OP. I live in a metropolitan area with frequent car theft and ordered my JT without the proximity sensor feature because of this. It doesn’t guarantee it won’t be stolen, but it does limit the options for access via a repeater. A cheap prevention measure to...
It has nothing to do with age, but thank you for the compliment! Its simple mechanical wear- an engine turning at 3600 RPM will typical wear twice as fast as an engine turning at 1800rpm. The reason that the 4L had so much more longevity than the 2.5 in the TJs is an example of this. Faster...
Updating this: no repair yet, but the parts ordered were the egr valve, the intake manifold, and a fuel line (apparently, these are ceramic lined and are required to be replaced if you remove them due to the likelihood of them breaking, according to the book).
I’m with you here. I didn’t have any complaints about the 3.6 in my JK but it simply isn’t enough power for the gladiator without screaming down the highway. I opted for the 3.0 and absolutely love it, but we’ll see how it holds up in the long run. If the 3.6 was the only option for the...
That’s the only code my scanner pulled (both as a pending and stored code), but it’s a fairly basic scanner. I’ll update the post as soon as I have more info from the dealership. I’m just very surprised to hear about soot accumulation to the point of needing replacement.
Just a little background, 06/21 build date with no engine/exhaust modifications. Gladiator is built for long-haul trips, never a daily, and sees almost exclusively highway mileage (cross country trips). At 28k miles I got a brief NOx related code that cleared itself (P20EE). I was cross-country...
What I don't understand is why they include ESS on the diesels. I see the EPA logic for a gas engine, but on a diesel? The factory batteries on these are awful. I use a smart battery conditioner every 2-3 months to maximize it's life but the JT's charging system is almost constantly outputting...
Viair makes a perfectly good product for most people (myself included). I was lucky enough to grab the ARB for less than a viair costs, so that’s why I went that way. If I was shopping full priced 12v compressors today I’d buy the viair.
On a sidenote, I personally prefer compressors that are...
My sport came with factory Goodyear wrangler a/t tires and the change to Rubicon takeoff KO2s was pretty significant in handling, at least for an OEM tire. I think most people are unfamiliar with how much difference an inch or 2 in width can make, let alone more sidewall flex. I’ve loathed the...
Not sure. The P747 is also on amazon for a couple more bucks than the link I sent. Ive used direct tools outlet a few times with mostly good experience. Only issues I've had were with their reconditioned batteries and tools. The factory blemished stuff all looks and functions as new. Ryobi stuff...
That's the P747 I have listed. I'd suggest at least a 4ah battery for it. Here's a better price
https://www.directtoolsoutlet.com/product/P747
The 2ah battery will probably only get you ~20-30 total psi before its out of juice. I keep a 9ah battery in mine in the truck 24/7 and I've never been...
I run factory spec C rated KO2s on my diesel sport and find that 35 PSI is the right pressure. No handling issues. I prefer a higher PSI but at 40 I found that they were overinflated and would have unevenly worn (centers bald before outer tread). If you have C sidewalls do a chalk test sooner...
I have a Ryobi P747 and an ARB CKMP12. 95% of the time I use the Ryobi. If you buy a ryobi, don't get the model you've listed as its one step up from a kid's toy, go straight for the P747 which is routinely around $45-50 on sale.
Ryobi P747 (~$50):
One duty cycle is enough to inflate a 35x12.5...
Oh, interesting. Thanks! I’ll have to look into this. I don’t have proximity sensors but I usually do have the fob close by. I’ll try leaving it in the tent and see if it makes a difference. Thank you
