  1. Questions about an 1986 Grand Wagoneer. Help, please?

Thank you, all. I'll mull it over and see what I can do. At work and have to head back to camp soon. Will be back around 6pm AKST, if anyone else has thoughts and opinions. But my basic worries for the vehicle is what to look for to make it reliable first. I'll tinker with awesomeness later...
  2. Questions about an 1986 Grand Wagoneer. Help, please?

So, I had no idea where to put this, but I have questions for the owners/users of older models of Jeep. I have found a 1986 Grand Wagoneer nearby for $2500, with 132K miles on it. Original 5.2 AMC 360 in it. I have already asked the owner questions about reliability/age damage and the like...

So, how does the bottom of the ladder attach? Do you require side steps or rails?
  5. From NW Louisiana to Canadian border and back gathering 13 badges along the way.

Griffs still exists there. They brought it back, and its still taking years off the crappy end of life. One of the few things I would go back to Ruston for.
  6. From NW Louisiana to Canadian border and back gathering 13 badges along the way.

Ruston has exploded in the last decade or so. Especially in the northwest corner. Tech has totally changed.

  11. Short Trip - Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK (With Kenai Fjords National Park)

Thank you. A trip up from almost anywhere in the Lower 48 is highly doable, but it does require tight planning. First, plan your route. For this I cannot recommend The Milepost enough. Buy yourself the latest yearly copy and use it and its online section to make your route. In doing so, realize...
  12. Short Trip - Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK (With Kenai Fjords National Park)

It was a very full campground by the time I had to find a place. My chosen tree of wetting had been occupied by a lady and her 5 year old son. So, to the central bathroom I went. *sigh* downsides of not staying on BLM land.
  13. Short Trip - Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK (With Kenai Fjords National Park)

Then I highly recommend Turo. Sort of like AirBnB for cars. And there are a LOT of Jeeps on that list for Anchorage. Besides, if you're planning something like a trip down the Denali Highway, most actual rental places will not rent to you for that purpose.
  14. Short Trip - Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK (With Kenai Fjords National Park)

Have done so at Beluga Point, in the past, but not on this trip down.
  15. Short Trip - Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK (With Kenai Fjords National Park)

I had them custom made by L&B Designworks. https://lbdesignworks.com/pages/customer-photos Last one at the bottom of the page is mine.
  16. Jeeps Parking Next To Jeeps

I was returning to my parking spot down in Seward, AK, when I saw these other two Jeeps obviously planning an ambush. Note the stealth Wrangler in the back middle, lurking. I quickly made my escape without being compromised.
  17. Short Trip - Anchorage, AK to Seward, AK (With Kenai Fjords National Park)

Welp. Didn't Die. Again. I will consistently attempt to continue this streak. At any rate, left out of Anchorage heading south on AK1 towards Seward, AK. Weather was very Pacific Northwest with overcast skies and a threat of rain that luckily didn't materialize until the second day. Did a...
