I went with flat black for mine. No primer, but the white soaked up a ton of paint. I can’t remember how many cans it took, but it was more than I expected. A little over a year later, it’s still holding up great.
I used Krylon Fusion Flat Black. The plastic sucks up a lot of paint. It took several more cans than I expected. I don't remember exactly how many, but it was around seven or eight I think. Six months later, still no sign of wear.
Finally time for some new shoes! I went with the Kenda Klever 601 35x10.5. Currently on stock Rubi rims. No lift, no leveling kit. They fit great and are super quiet. I can’t tell much of a difference in power, but I haven’t gotten it on the highway yet.
Honestly it wasn’t too bad at all. Once you have the inner fender removed, I do recommend using needle nose pliers on the clips instead of just trying to rip the fender off. There’s a small gap behind the body panel where if you look up, you can see the backs of the plastic clips. If you squeeze...
I was the same way. The red and green just screamed Christmas. Minus the red stitching on the steering wheel and shifter, I completely “de-rubiconed” mine.
I have. The gobi looks good, but it’s very tan compared to the gator. I’m not a huge fan of the shiny finish of the gobi. I struggled choosing between the two because I didn’t get to see any gladiators in person (I was living in Italy) before I ordered, but I’m glad I went with gator.
I used Krylon Fusion. It took a surprising amount to get the paint to absorb. Each freedom panel took a full can. I think it was at least three cans for the back. From the feel of the texture, I think the headliners would still stick. My goal is to eventually get the headliners, so I may find...
Your rig looks good! Yeah, they’re the Bartact OD Green and Black covers. They’re a slightly different shade than gator, but they match pretty well.
I just finished this up today. I used alcohol wipes to clean and prep. I also removed the latches and did a lot of taping off. It sucks up a lot of paint. Each freedom panel took a full can each and the back took three cans. It looks really good, but we’ll see how it holds up.
