Go HERE starting with post #12 for more details on my AEV bumper install…only mod I had to do was slightly trim 2 of the Gladiator’s unused tabs welded to the Jeep’s frame to fit my winch plate.
“I am using the DV8 spacers.” I’ll probably do the same when/if I ever buy a winch…
“The AEV skid bolted to the bumper, but I had to cut off the outside inch piece at each end to clear the clevis mounts I installed.“ Think I bought the same style mounts as you. But I didn’t install as I was in...
No winch installed yet.
See my other thread for other bumper updates.
Are you using DV8 JK to JL bumper spacers?
What did you do to get the AEV skidplate to work on the Gladiator?
also @Montana Brian
Thanks but no winch installed yet. Over 35 years of off-roading and have yet to install a winch. My off-roading doesn’t typically include burying the Jeep in mud up the axles…so I’ve yet to feel the “need” to install a winch. But a Hi-Lift jacks with attachments is a...
Recent trip to the Outer Banks at Cape Lookout…the Gladiator performed flawlessly and this is a great setup.
The custom rack is overkill stout - probably stronger than OEM roll bars. Lol.
The Scout factory will not directly sell you a Yoho that is knowingly going on a Gladitor. They say the center of gravity is behind the rear axle on the Gladiator (but either over the rear axle on short bed and in front of rear axle on long bed Toyotas).
Can you physically put the Yoho on the...
@Imbuere all good on the bumper…no winch yet…but that round yellow AEV sticker lasted like 1 week lol
@FLUndertaker just the early Brutes we’re 2 doors…later JK models were 4 doors; always wanted a Brute but they were $100K trucks
@4MOTION that same dealer, Shaver, was my neighborhood dealer. Two years ago when I went in there they were playing the $10K+ above stocker game. That why I went to Idaho to get mine (read earlier posts in this thread) and let Shaver do the post purchase oil changes.
What % over/under invoice...
Thanks @-miko- and @dloon
Having a functional bedcover that works with the rack was critical in my design to protect the bed contents from dust and rain. The cover is like 99% leak free (more dust than rain).
Driving it now for several months and have zero regrets, zero loss of rear...
Since I’m running several AEV parts, I’ve got the credentials to run the stickers…lol.
Similar to ARB’s logo sticker location on their bumpers…
Feel like it blends in nicely…no other non-OEM stickers on the truck.
Haven’t done it but would suggest you find a local body shop supply store and buy “Spray Max 2K” epoxy primer and have them mix and load Sting Gray into the aerosol cans too. This paint has a button on the bottom of the can that you pop to add the hardening agent to the paint right before you...
Like a lot of you guys I was not happy with the mass produced bolt together U-channel bed racks and wanted something to work with a bed cover.
Designed my own rack with a weld together 1st Gen Tacoma kit from All Pro Off-Road, extra tubing, and other parts from various metal fab shops. It’s...
More progress this week! The bed rack is now fully welded along with accessory mounts. Just need the time to prime and paint it.
I’ve designed the rack to be modular and easy to add or remove items for a long-camping trip, day trip to the beach, or for daily use.
It’s set-up for all these...
Thanks @Ted Striker the earlier installed bumper photos in the thread didn’t have the winch plate or backer panel and that kept the bumper close to the grille. With all parts installed it pushed the bumper out farther where I now have 6” of clearance (grille center to bumper) and prob ~8-9”...
The base texture is Duplicolor bedliner. Leave the can in the sun to heat up the bed liner material and then spray it at 2’ - 3’ distance so all you get is a fine mist of bedliner that lands on the bumper. Buy this at local auto parts store.
Top coat was SprayMax 2000 Satin Hot Rod black...
