  1. Liquid head gasket repair

Does anyone have any experience that they can share in using liquid head gasket repair such as CRC Fiberlock, etc. in a 3.6 Jeep?
  2. Trailer brake controller recommendations?

That is another benefit. I have picked up a Dodge Cummins to handle the towing duties and the Echo works great with it as well.
  3. 3.6 Penstar Poll!

It started burning coolant about 1k miles ago. Headgasket maybe? The only stress that it has had is towing a trailer up around the maximum weight, but it has never got hot, let alone over heated.
  4. 3.6 Penstar Poll!

I maintained my excellently, and at 125k miles or so it has failed me. I am very disappointed in what I thought was going to be a long running, reliable platform and I will no longer recommend it to others.
  5. Trying to gather info to find commonality on "misfires"

The tech diagnosed that coolant is getting in the combustion chamber. Rather than diagnose further and repair, the modern solution appears to be just throw it away and put in a new one.
  6. Trying to gather info to find commonality on "misfires"

Sounds like what I am experiencing. Jeep dealers solution is to change the engine.
  7. 3.6 Coolant leak found

I agree, you would think that cracks that were manufacturing defects would have showed up before now. I have done alot of trailer towing and while I have never overheated it, that engine has been working hard. A stretched head bolt or two allowing a headgasket leak does sound more plausible. It...
  8. 3.6 Coolant leak found

My local dealer diagnosed that coolant is getting into the cylinders. They say that in their experience it is likely microscopic cracks in the block that can not be repaired and the engine must be replaced. Sounds like Maximus Gladius’ experience. Anyone interested in a motor swap candidate?
  9. 3.6 Coolant leak found

I borrowed the combustion gas check tool (and bought the fluid) and it did not show any combustion gas in the coolant, so this would rule out a headgasket or some other leak that is higher pressure than the coolant system, right? Or am I understanding this incorrectly? Didn't the Toyota 22R...
  10. 3.6 Coolant leak found

I still have a leak, very slow, but it is leaking. Blackstone detected coolant in the oil sample that I sent them, but I am not seeing any oil in the coolant (and it tested negative for combustion gas in the coolant) or indication of coolant in the oil. I do think that I am smelling coolant in...
  11. 3.6 Coolant leak found

125k miles and the thermostat housing (plastic) cracked for some reason. I had it fixed at the dealer and had the drive belt replaced while they were there.
  12. Proximity door locks retrofit on Wrangler/Gladiator, someone figured it out (DIY writeup)

I took my Gladiator to the dealer for the first time ever last week to have them track down a coolant leak and perform the computer updates. I unmarried the tazer that has been in there continuously since 2020 and requested that the technician activate the passive door handle in the Jeep’s...
  13. Trying to gather info to find commonality on "misfires"

My start up misfire has went away since I started using a battery tender. I pulled the battery (I am only running one) and tested it and it returned fine, but when I start without keeping it on the battery tender for a couple of days I get a red alert on the dash that I am guessing is low...
  14. Trying to gather info to find commonality on "misfires"

i am adding about 4oz. of coolant every 5k miles and just developed a misfire at startup that is triggering a cel. 122k miles.
  15. Electric Camping Coolers

I had an Indel B TB41A that I bought from truckfridge.com and it worked great. Low power consumption and rugged.
  16. So, what is everybody towing?

A quick update- I am up to 122K on the Gladiator now and towed my 5000 lbs., 21 foot Outdoors RV trailer 10,452 miles this year. The only incident was a trailer axle bearing retainer coming loose and allowing the hub to back off and chew up the bearings. I have had this happen before (Dammit...
  17. Anyone tow another 2 Door Jeep with Gladiator?

Towed fine from California coast to the Sierras.
  18. Does the OEM LED lights get hot enough to melt snow?

I just added KC lights specifically so I can drive in blizzards at night, again.
  19. There's a Clever Phone Mount

That does look pretty cool, but I still prefer my Bulletpoint 'single ball passenger side phone mount'. I keeps my phone in essentially the same place as this, (but on the passenger side of the radio). If I decide not to put my phone on it I remove the arm and you do not notice the ball.
  20. who is on original oem aluminum steering box?

I am up to 105k now and no changes, all is still well.
