Grand Cherokees have been great/stable towing platforms since they came out late '92/early '93. I had a '93 and '96 (4.0L I-6, neither with factory tow packages, added a U-haul receiver and wired in a flat 4 for trailer lights) that I would tow a 21.5' boat with and it was around 5K lbs on the trailer. My GCs did better than a '96 RAM extra cab 4x4 I had with the 5.2L V8. The GCs were very stable and the RAM was like the tail wagging the dog. Pulling the boat from the water, both GCs would walk that boat out in 2H. The RAM needed 4H or 4Lo (depending on ramp) to do the same task.Well I only have two choices the tow a Cherokee 260 miles. All flat miles and the only traffic will be Atlanta. I can use my 2020 JTR or my 2013 WK2. Either one I need to use a curt bluetooth plug-in. The trailer is a light weight car hauler at 1500lbs. I could flip a coin. I'm leaning toward the Wk2 but I haven't pulled anything with it, so no idea on how it's going to work out.
That is comforting to know. Thank you. I post a pic when I hook up to one on Friday.Grand Cherokees have been great/stable towing platforms since they came out late '92/early '93. I also did some towing with my '02 (4.7L V8) and '03 (4.0L I-6) GCs. The best towing one was my '08 GC Overland (Hemi).
Now I tow a 27', 5,100 lb (with all we want or need) travel trailer with my JT Overland. It does a really nice job.
I wouldn't hesitate to tow with either one of the Jeeps in your stable.
