Hello all.
New to the forum and looking for some advice on Gladiator gas v diesel towing

Current off-roading n camping setup
2015 f150 5.0 380 ish HP and 380 ish torque and use a WDH.
21’ jayco rv trailer 4600 lb dry and if loaded would b 5500-5700
21 wrangler sport that was just totaled. Everybody ok

Thinking of going to a Gladiator Rubi to pull rv and off-road.
See a lot of posts that Gladiators pull this much but not unsure if if they are gasser or diesels.
Diesel prob way to go?
Thx

Instead of the Corvette I am now towing the TJ. MPG went down from 23 to 18 ... ;)

Sorry to derail the thread, but I've always noticed that the trailers in Europe are deck-over design rather than what we commonly refer to as a car hauler, where the deck is down between the fenders. Any insight as to why that is?

In fact I used a deck down trailer for many years.

But considering now the deck over design as much more practical because it is not so wide.
The deck over trailer is as wide as the Gladiator, for me much easier to drive.

The deck down trailer was approx. 0,5 meter wider than the car I used for towing.

Makes good sense, thanks for the info :like:

Just curious about what is on the road behind our JT's.

Here is what I am pulling.

Moby1 Off road trailer. Pretty loaded up and only around 2500lbs (32 water tank empty)...

Not towing yet, but am narrowing it down as to what I'm going to be interested in. I have a few in mind ranging from a Lance 1575, a Salem or Wildwood FSX 169RSK, and a Viking 182DBU and couple others.

Will be limiting myself to a max GVWR of 5000 lbs dry weight 3500 to 3700 lbs and 525 max tongue weight. I have the tow package (NOT max tow) on a Freedom Edition 3.6 Pentastar, auto (6000 max tow weight). And of course a good WDH and will be adding a brake controller. I've been towing camping trailers for over 25 years, starting on a Subaru Forester and a pop up, back WHEN they could tow, so know the drill inside out, upside down, from tongue weight to flipped axles, CRE 3000/Road armor suspension and good tires vs China bombs.

We will be looking for a weekender like 3 nights trailer. We actually have a 30 footer 7,000 lb unit for the long trips of a week or two and a 22 Ram 2500. We do that two or three times a year on 5K mile type trips. but living in Montana, we have many places within two to three hours we love to hit for two or three nights. Plus, I am looking at the Truxedo Elevate system and a hard top overland tent for some special trips to places like the Magruder Corridor a hundred mile run through MT/ID.

Other campgrounds close include Mortimer Gulch, Crystal Park area, Lewis and Clark Caverns. And on and on. Even within 30 minutes I've got Tizer Lakes for 4WD and Strawberry Mountain Fire Tower... "Life is good to me so far"...to quote a crazy man who plays a mean guitar.

I suppose most of you tow your trailers..... I just have to be different sometimes.
Guy I bought it from thought I was nuts when I said I was going to throw it in the back for the trip home.
Might get an award for longest thing hauled with the Gladiator, it is about 16' long

I have about finished my JTR build as it is in my signature. Sometimes I toy with the thought of getting a small but complete trailer that I can tow to the Pacific Northwest for vacation. Many miles and many long grades. But I fear that adding 5K on a trailer would not be any fun for the drive. My build is like many others and wondering what luck people have had towing with a build like mine???

Yeah, that easily tops mine by 5' or so. I had a steel pipe that was a basketball hoop pole I hauled out for scrap a while back. This tops that.
I had a strap up front went around the pole and down to the tie points and ratcheted that thing down hard to keep the front end in and down.

2024 Jayco Jay Feather Micro 171BH. Just picked her up. Haven't ran by scales yet for exact numbers but tongue weight looks to be right around ~485lbs (2 20# tanks and a battery) based on the weight safe hitch.

I'll update once I get the family loaded up and hit the scales.
