To your point, I have a smart cap on a slider, 30lb recovery kit, winch and the usual crap in the cab. I can legally haul 3 people with no extra gear. Toss on a trailer and there goes the limit imposed by the God's.
You can see why there are limits, it's the beginning of the end.
Basically anything in or on the bed, people and items carried in the cab. If you added any modifications, they count too, ie. winch, upgraded bumpers.
You're not in a race to go camping. Just take it slow and make sure your trailer brakes are set right. The Gladiator will pull that size camper...
I have a Rubicon as well. I pulled 6500lbs and maybe 500lbs of tongue weight. The only other payload was 3 persons ( under 500). It pulled okay, revs going up hill.
You are kind of stuck with minimizing your capacity in your truck. You can load the trailer up with your camping gear. A weight...
Payload is not the towing load but the tongue weight is. 1126 is the starting point, subtract your tongue weight and that is what's left for your Gladiator payload. Toss the rest in your camper and be aware of your tongue weight changes.
Sport, Rubicon ??
I remember reading someone saying that you minimize sparks by leaving the fob away from the vehicle like you said and waiting 30 minutes before removing the negative.
Nice to see you back at it!
It took mine overnight (24 hours)to return when I had my radio replaced. After it came back it wasn't my subscription, so Sirius pinged it and I had to wait another 24 hours for it to come up on the screen.
Did you ask Sirius?
They really can't cherry pick a Gladiator setup for each test. You have acceleration, max speed and braking among other things to consider. I don't think I would have chose the Mojave for the test, maybe the sport max tow or Rubicon would have been better.
Still fun to see the comparisons...
A better test would be, first have the entire line of JT's compete. With different axle and engine configurations, who knows how it could have turned out. The same goes for the other manufacturers. I haven't watched the towing segment, but I have the same argument there without watching it.
If it was me, I would look into the wiring a little deeper. Maybe find another shop to look at it. I like the idea that maybe it could still be covered under the powertrain warranty. You just may have to point it out to the service manager.
None of this will make you feel any better about...
I have a whine noise only in reverse. When it stops doing that, I'll start getting worried. That's not really true. I also get the same whine in 1st. I'm sure the whine is still there in the other forward gears, I just can't hear it.
Reminds me when my 78 year old friend came over to visit. I...
I ran into this on other vehicles. Sometimes you can let the weight of the skid plate plus a few pounds with a prybar aassistto hold the nut down. I'm guessing locktite is being used which would make it difficult. Warming it upcould ease up the locktite if it was used.
All I did was click on the 10mm socket set link to HF. Two seconds later, I get a HF email. I swallowed the hook and looked at the email. Now I have a Badlands Apex coming in the mail. It's not even the best deal that I have seen. Good grief!
The emissions on diesel engines have a long way to go to be reliable. It's not just Jeep but all makes. My Duramax has had 4 def heater assets, 4 nox sensors and a 9th injector. I have to do manual regens depending on how I have been driving. Emissions is kind of the reason I didn't hold out for...
I have one of the 16 ton hydraulic hand crimper from Amazon. I got it for splicing large overhead power cables. It worked fine for that, but when it came time to crimp 2 or 4ga cables, the dies for those sizes just seem to be either too big or too small.
