I have a 2023 Gladiator willys and I have a 4 pin and 7 pin trailer hookup.
My question is can I haul a trailer with electric brakes? If so where is the trailer brakes balancer function? Or is it automagically on?

You will need to add in a trailer brake add on. Most like the Redarc system, others like the one offered by MOPAR (factory add on, not cheap).

I have the Tenkonsha Primus controller and am very satisfied with it's performance with my travel trailer (27', ~5,100 lbs, with all we want or need). It was around $140 installed by the dealership where I bought my trailer. All are basically plug and play once connected to the connector behind the kick panel that is by your left foot on the driver's side.

Do your research into what brake controller you want (or can afford) and have that installed.

I used the Redarc in my first JT and recently moved it over to a diesel. The thing I like about it is the size. It fits right into the dash where the cigarette lighter was. There should be a cord taped up under the dash to the left of the steering wheel. That is where you will connect the controller. You will just need the correct adapter for the controller you go with.

If you don't do a lot of hauling, you can use the Curt echo Bluetooth adapter. It can be swapped between vehicles. It is very easy to use.

I use the Curt Echo as a permanent solution for my trailer brakes. Towed over 6000 miles with it, including a +3200 mile trip from San Diego to NJ. Not a single issue. Great product.

There is a factory brake controller you can get, but I think most go with aftermarket options. I am yet another person who went with Redarc. They offer a harness that plugs directly into the factory harness. So it is simple to install. No doubt bluetooth options are fine, but I would rather have mine hardwired.

With all my mods I just fear what a trailer load would be like . Not a fan of 5000 RPMs . But a small self contained TT does sound like fun.

5000 is well within the normal range of the engine.

Does anyone know if the Mopar Trailer Brake controller is still being manufactured? I ordered mine almost 3 months ago and haven’t really heard back about it.

They do NOT work on the JT. There's no factory wiring or programming for it. I know that sounds weird, but they based the design on the RAM design which uses the same module and connectors, but the JT never got the full provisioning to use it. Never made sense why they advertise it but you cannot use it.

Honestly, the BEST trailer brakes you can get for the JT, and the cheapest, are "Surge Brakes". They function without an electronic controller, and work regardless of what trailer, brakes, or load you have. They function like normal hydraulic brakes by using a piston inside the trailer's tongue (bolts on) and the momentum of the trailer pushing/pulling the hitch on the truck. No controller needed, no special electronics, no failures.

There's a reason they haven't had their design changed since they were made. They just work.

Not so sure folks want to go converting their trailers to surge brakes though, when at this point they pretty much only exist on rental trailers. Would probably cost a lot more than buying the pigtail and a controller for a JT.

Anyway - I have an old Tekonsha Prodigy P2 I plug it when I need it, and it works fine.
