  1. Anderson towing / Air Bags / 16' Airstream

I tow a 16' Bambi with my diesel ~4500lbs loaded. Put in air bags, I know they do not transfer weight from the back of the truck - they just pick up the back. And given the % of trailer weight to truck weight a WDS is (IMO) absolutely necessary. The WDS actually transfers weight away from the...
  2. Bad experience - What air bags work well for the Gladiator?

Me either. I have never put more then 12psi in so I dont know if higher pressure makes a diff
  3. Any EcoD use a weight distribution hitch?

I tow 5K Lbs Airstream, 500lb tongue. Use a WDH as it just adds to the safety. My is a stock overland and I never had any heat issues even in summer pulling New England hills. Mods, esp larger tires, will add to the stress/heat. Not a big truck.
  4. Z96 High Pressure Fuel Pump Recall!!!!!!

After waiting and waiting for parts to be available I finally called the dealer. I was told there is no parts to replace - it is a software update. Seems odd to me
  5. Towing a 3200lb camper with Ecodiesel?

I pull a ~5000lb Airstream. Great fuel economy (~22mpg) and the rpms are much lower than the gasser at full torque and hp. Set up a weight distribution hitch properly and keep the tongue weight around 500lbs and you'll be happy. Don't expect it to tow or feel like a full size truck.
  6. Bad experience - What air bags work well for the Gladiator?

I had the EXACT issue when installing the same airbags - even the same conversation with Nick. The bags did not fill the space at all when jacked up. Thought for sure I would loose the lower plug. He assured me they would be ok. Been installed for more than a year and no issues at all - work...
  7. Oil Leak @ < 1200 Miles

I had some oil in the same place not long after I got it. I think ShadowsPapa right. I wiped it off and kept an eye on it. Nothing more. I have just under 10k on mine and its been great. Truly fun to drive and unbelievably good mileage - I get 29.2 mpg on long hauls empty, 22 towing a...
  8. Redarc Trailer Brake Controller (Tow Pro Elite V3)

Thanks. Ya, the factory wiring was easy to find... once your upside down on the floor :-) 10k miles and it hasn't moved a bit.
  9. What is the most miles you have seen on a new eco diesel.

8700 - almost all highway and light towing. Had a bad rear seal replaced at 3K - other than that it is a nice ride with no issues. I keep it in a warm garage and its never seen a trail - not a scratch on it. I think the only real things that can get you in trouble with a modern diesel are cold...
  10. VM 3.0 general overview and current observations - Q&A encouraged

Wow - is that the 28' Flying cloud? How did you get the weight numbers to work out? And it looks to ride level! What kind of mods do you use? I'm pulling a 16' Caravel and I'm at 90% Max capacity (600 Tongue - 1290/cargo - 6k trailer is my max). I have to be really careful were I put things or I...
  11. Dumb Question on Diesel Cooldown

Trouble is Jeep doesn't make this easy. I have an ODB reader and watch temps closely. Would be so easy to give us a gauge cluster in one of those useless screens... LOL I always give the diesel 20-30 seconds before shutting down as long as I haven't been hitting that turbo hard in the last few...
  12. Violent shudder at 85mph

I just got my truck back from the dealer to "fix" a mess they made. And they rotated my tires to be helpful. Yesterday I got on the highway and at 72mph I got the death wobble. Mind you... Ive gone above 80 several times with no issue and the truck has 8k on it, so just a bit of a surprise. I...
  13. Is dealer pride a thing anymore?

So I called the service manager and arranged to have them clean the mess, provide me a car for the day and insisted on an extra oil change as comp for my troubles. While Im not happy about the mess and the time it cost me I think this is a reasonable result.
  14. Scanguage - Regen and Soot problems

I don't know what scanguage is but there are two types of regen - active and passive. Almost all highway miles and my ODB reader shows the regen on and off all the time. 6500miles and - so far - no active regen. The passive regen pushes my exhaust temps to around 800°F - active should be above 1000.
  15. New Build

Nice rig... and wow did you make out with the trade up! I have a stock Overland diesel with 18" tires and Im getting 29mpg highway and 22 towing my 5k trailer. Took about 1500 miles to get to those numbers. I love the way the big tires look but I don't do any real trail running so, for me, it...
  16. Is dealer pride a thing anymore?

Well I did get a phone call from the service manager. Was at work but he did leave a message. Basically a lame apology and a number to call him back. I know what it's like to deal with customers so don't envy the guy - esp when the mechanic screws up. ... and no, I will not be sleeping with the...
  17. thinking abt getting a '22 diesel rubicon gladiator

I ordered an Overland fully equipped and just love it. I have driven 6500 miles, Mostly highway... and I'm with trailless on the diesel. I saw how high the gasser needed to rev and said no way am I going to spend hours on the road listening to an engine scream. It pulls my 5k trailer at 65mph...
