As a person with two mechanics in the family I certainly would love to give the mechanic the benefit of the doubt here. Could just be a beginner who needs to know this is not acceptable work. Thats why I sent the pictures to the service department first - and not the GM or FCA.
So far - no...
Thanks everyone for the support.
It is definitely NOT a beater.
Its the first new vehicle I have owned and I ordered it just the way I wanted it - fully loaded with the diesel.
Im used to taking care of my stuff. My "beater" truck is a 2000 GMC with almost 180k. I would drive it to California in...
At the risk of sounding like a complainer I wonder what folks think of this mess the dealer made.
Had my oil changed this Wednesday.
Parked in my garage until today. Noticed about an ounce of oil on my floor in several small puddles.
My 2nd oil change at ~6500 miles and the drivers side of the...
Funny this just came up - had my lowest milage left indicator just last week - 15 miles.
Took 17.1 gallons before the auto stop on the pump clicked. Could have gone more but I see a big diesel slick at EVERY station I go to. Didn't want to make one bigger ;_)
ShadowsPapa,
You mentioned the best fuel economy while in cruise with the automatic.
How long did it take the transmission to learn how to shift?
While towing in cruise I need to manually shift.
In auto it shifts from 8 to 5th so rpms jump from 1600 to 3300 instantly.
Not a fan.
I think your spot on - most of my driving is long distance... and under load.
Temps consistently in the 7-800°F range should be enough for a passive burn off.
I use the OBDLink MX+ and the OBDLink software it was bundled with.
The software creates a log file that I can open as a spreadsheet.
I...
Ok.
I went through the spreadsheet with the raw data.
Now I'm even more confused :-)
Trip Time - 4.6 hrs
Trip distance - 229.7 miles
Almost all highway.
I cannot see an active regen kicking off the entire time.
Passive regen ran several times, once for 45mins, for a total time of about...
Interesting.
I am a little confused though - I thought the active regen gave you a notice in the dash.
And the passive ones don't.
I think the passive ones have been running as I have an OBD reader - the only indication I get is a 1(on) or a 0(off) so I thought that was a passive regen - and...
Here is what I understand through my reading - I'm not an engineer so if I get anything wrong please correct me...
Diesel is a mixture of saturated and aromatic hydrocarbons - some are heavier than others and have hight viscosities. For the most complete burn the fuel must be mixed with oxygen...
I can't say I'm a fan. Maybe in heavy traffic. I don't use the button to disable much as Ive gotten used to just pushing the shifter into manual mode when I stop and that stops it from happening - almost unconscious action now.
Great video!
Altitude and temperature are important - especially the higher you go.
By this thread it looks like changing the air flow to the engine has little beneficial effect. I wonder if all those scoops and holes are somehow defeating some of the cooling in the original design. Leads me to...
Im in New England so hills are not large. Going to upstate NY I saw a few stretches maybe three miles long up to about 1500'MSL. I think on one long uphill I dropped it into 6th briefly. Still held 62-65mph no issues ~2700RPM tops. Temps where up during those pulls for sure but nothing like what...
