I sold the Gladiator. It's on-road manners were just too poor to live with, and I stick to primarily dirt bikes and dual sport for my offroad fix. To each their own. I'll definitely miss it!
I sold it for nearly what I had in it. COVID pricing is crazy.
This is an excellent forum, it was...
As the title states, I couldn't find any sliders that I liked that included bolt-on steps.
A few sliders were more parallel to the ground, and could be used as a step, but not perfect for a lifted truck.
I really liked the Fab Fours sliders and ordered them. I then casually looked around for...
Correct.
Lifting the gas truck is as easy as suspension work can get.
Use a ratchet strap on the axle to the frame to align track bars and control arms, plus a jack to change the axle angle if needed.
That is where people typical struggle in their driveway.
Those front bump stops look WAYYYY too big. You'd want a 1-2" bump stop extension with a 3" lift, which doesn't look like that tall of a lift from the photos. Maybe the bumper and winch caused it to sag to 2" or so.
You have an adjustable front track bar so that is good.
I do not see any...
It's a shame that COVID has jacked everything up.
Inflation is up, supply is down, demand is up.
Dealers in my area are marking them up $10k, while a Ranger is $1,000-4,000 off.
Depends on your area.
Rangers are $1000-4000 off MSRP here in Metro Atlanta, and you can join the Mustang Owners Club for x-plan pricing (*after 60 days membership).
Is it relatively safe to run a shorter shock?
I don't go rock bouncing or rock crawling.
I have the Clayton 2.5" kit, which gave me an insane 4.5" in the front... I'm kind of annoyed by that actually.
My front shocks are Extended Length (IN) - 26.88.
I'm thinking that I might need to go...
In!
I also am thinking of going down a tire size for driveability.
Also I specifically picked out the Rugged Ridge HD front bumper because it "looks" the most aerodynamic".
The 3.6 is competitive in the mid-size truck market.
So people who say it isn't powerful enough must be comparing this to non mid-size trucks.
If I wanted a diesel mid-size truck, I'd go Colorado ZR2 Duramax all day long.
Oh also the diesel gives you less towing and less payload, where as the...
No, not a single person here has any experience with the diesel engine.
There are also zero diesel threads on the very first page of this General section.
Nor is there an entire section dedicated to the diesel powertrain.
One of the best parts of the Mojave is the shocks.
So unless you are going with a big lift, there isn't really a reason to ditch them.
My favorite mod is the Livernois Motorsports tune. Look it up.
+1 what lift.
Solid axles front and rear means there isn't much adjustability, but an aftermarket lift could mean adjustable control arms or track bars.
