Looks to close to the sidewall belt. I doubt if a tire shop will patch it. As an emergency spare sure. I know in Ontario Canada all tires have to be repaired from the inside. If you know someone they may be able to help save it as a spare.

I have the factory hard tri fold. I really like it. The only complaint would be with it fully open it touches the roof, soft or hard top. I would look for one with gas struts to hold it open and off body. I have never driven with it fully open.

They don’t rust but they are prone to corrosion trust me.

I have had similar situations where I have to push the start button with the remote itself. What I found out was that cellular antennas in and around where I park will not allow the key fob to work.

My Gladiator isn’t 2 years yet and I have rust bubbles on hood edge and a door edge.

Like you said make sure you install a fuse as close to the power supply as possible, or you risk the truck catching fire.
