  1. Diesel cooling options and ideas

This will be a helpful upgrade if it doesn't throw a check engine code with the OEM ECU tune.
  2. POOAF

I'm towing my Escape 19 around 100 miles tomorrow in the middle of the day when temps are at their highest. We'll see how mine does.
  3. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Your ECU doesn't throw any codes due to the lower temperature?

I wonder if this might be a little on the small side. I think around 150sqin might be a good starting point to aim for to evacuate a worthwhile amount of heat. It doesn't look too hard to mount the filter to a bracket that would bolt to the driver's side motor mount atop the frame beneath the...

That's good info to know. Thanks for that. Taking my Jeep to a dealership to have the cab pulled and the turbo swapped is quite possibly the most invasive thing they could possibly do to me, short of a colonoscopy. I'll do anything I can to avoid having to do that.

125 degrees? My oil easily reaches double that!
  7. Is a tazer a good replacement for an autostop start eliminator?

I'll experiment when I get a chance. Let me know what you find out.
  8. Is a tazer a good replacement for an autostop start eliminator?

That's the first I've heard of of this.
  9. Advice on shocks for Ecodiesel

I've talked with @CrazyCooter about rebuilding my shocks. I can vouch for him being a great guy, and as @biodiesel said, I wish I lived closer to him. As for an off-the-shelf shock recommendation (particularly for the diesel) I am really impressed with how well Icon's CDCVs keep the front axle...
  10. Is a tazer a good replacement for an autostop start eliminator?

The Tazer is a wonderful product, but it is buggy. The winch mode doesn't work with the diesel. It won't let me disengage the sway bar at higher speeds like it's supposed to. And mine will randomly disconnect the sway bar all on its own, which is particularly awesome when I'm on a windy...

Even without a trailer in tow, all I have to do is hit a grade in the summer heat and it'll light up the dashboard and send it into limp mode. If it doesn't do it the first time, I just need to hit the grade a second time, a little deeper into the accelerator. When I took mine to the...
  12. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I've only driven it once since getting the CSF radiator and tranny cooler installed. It definitely dropped the unladen flat ground highway cruising temperature from around 215 to 210. Turning on the radiator fan with the Tazer further dropped the coolant temp another 10 degrees or so, and then...

Nobody has been able to replace just the turbo actuator?
  14. Diesel cooling options and ideas

How did you tap into the oil system? I've considered going straight into the oil pan with -10AN fittings and using a Tilton oil pump to circulate oil through a cooler completely separately from the engine's oil circuit.
  15. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I have the CSF radiator. Cooling the water isn't an issue, but the intercooler won't like the oil's heat flowing into it.
  16. Diesel cooling options and ideas

I don't particularly like the idea of adding another heat exchanger in front of the intercooler and radiator where it just dumps its heat right back into the system.
  17. Diesel cooling options and ideas

Those are quality parts. Finding a filter mounting location will be the hard part.
  18. POOAF

High oil temps seem to be a different issue than the P00AF, which is caused by the Hella turbo actuator not doing what it's supposed to be doing as a result of its own separate heat issue. So the two issues are heat-related but are not the same issue.

Please share which cooler and filter setup you've found will actually fit in our Jeeps!
  20. Might be time to change: Ram 2500

There's nothing like a big block. I always wanted a 2001-2006 with the Vortec 8100. So awesome.
