P00af is kind of generic and comes up for a few issues.

Most common is the wiring harness by downpipe overheating. Alot of us have vented the engine bay etc to prevent it and relocating it also helps.
I've been keeping track of the P00AF on the Ram forum. So far, that code has resulted in a warranty turbo replacement 100% of the time. Here's the list on the Ram forum. Everyone who has gotten a new turbo hasn't had the P00AF reoccur.

Surely that would present itself as a permanent code, no?
EcoDiesel owners have been able to erase the code. It's fairly easy to replicate by towing the same load up the same hill/mountain that triggered it. One of the Jeep guys was able to trigger the code by running empty (no towing) and driving over a long steep grade somewhere in the Tennessee mountains if I remember correctly.

Has there been any update on replacing the turbo without a cab off? I saw somebody mention it somewhere but as far as I know it's still a cab-off operation. Seems so silly given how close it is when you have the fender off

Under warranty, they have all been cab off repairs on the Rams. Unfortunately, I haven't followed the Jeep forum(s) to know what they are doing.

With all the vehicles that need the body lifted off to change the oil they ought to hinge them in the back like funny cars 🤪

100% of the forum participants had the repair replaced under the 5 year/100,000 Powertrain Warranty. The repair procedure calls for a new turbo. That's partly because Jeep/Ram doesn't carry or sell the actuator.

The defective actuators show up early 'if' owners/operators push their trucks early in ownership. Unfortunately, some people don't buy a travel trailer or do any heavy towing until their warranty is almost up, and that's when they detect the problem.

You could always contact Garrett and request a part supplier and/or part numbers. As mentioned above, some people have found various part numbers and have used certain actuators with mix results.

My 2020 Ram EcoDiesel is a designated tow rig. We've towed a 7,000 lb. travel trailer for 60,000+ miles without any issues. This includes towing over some of the longest/steepest mountain passes in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. We just logged over 1,000 miles last week towing from New Mexico to the Missouri/Arkansas border.

Well, I unfortunately deleted the code. Drove today to Panama City. 200 miles round trip. No problems. Oil temp only got up to 220
