I wonder if you brought the light out until the outside corner was just proud if it would be legal. You would still maintain the french recess which I really like. I like the first light a lot better, but the rectangle light looks good too.

I really like the look, but you might need to check DOT regs to make sure the lights can be recessed that much. I bet there are view angle requirements to be road legal.

Based on what angle the picture seems to be taken at, I am betting it is a straight shot to the Bolt lock with no trimming needed. At least I hope so, since I am a fan of the new grill too.
