  1. Arizona Ultra lightweight C6 Rooftop Tent “Rev Tent” ($950)

Not cheaper quality at all. Realy strong poles and fabric and legit 4" mattress. And lifestyle/storage -wise, to me, it's unparalleled. 25 lb tent on 45 lb platform means it comes off easy with no help and stores in bedroom closet. No pulleys no driving around with it the other 300 days a year...
  2. Arizona Ultra lightweight C6 Rooftop Tent “Rev Tent” ($950)

I swear I marked this as sold. Apologies. (But I would still recommend checking them out. It was a game-changer for us.)
  3. How to learn about the places we go

Anyone else go to Youtube to get eyes on the trail / sights in the days before a trip? Or just bookmark for later or "Like" for future reference?
  4. How to learn about the places we go

I assume some nifty Civil War battlefields nearby? Any way to camp within range of Appomattox, Fredericksburg, etc?
  5. How to learn about the places we go

I get pretty amped up for some overlanding when I'm reading fiction as well. I've never been more excited (and a bit scared) to go to Texas area than after reading Cormac McCarthy books.
  6. How to learn about the places we go

My kids have been asking about this for months. They call it treasure hunting but I think they have buddies who do this around town. Excelent idea.
  7. How to learn about the places we go

Agreed on the stories and history. re: channel - Excellent and will do.
  8. How to learn about the places we go

" Google earth, enable photos " great idea. I would also follow that Willsey for a week in the backcountry just observing and learning about the rocks. Very cool. (And a case study in people (including myself) that would just walk right by it otherwise)
  9. How to learn about the places we go

Great references. I put my 10 yr old on Google map duty for our next trip. Satellite view with spurs and possible water sources (AZ theme). I'll admit as a parent I tend to lean toward known trails and familiar areas but the only way to push that comfort zone is to try new things. I two...
  10. How to learn about the places we go

Elk was our best guess too (8 yr old wants to be a zoologist someday), thanks. I imagine that backpacking you really get out and away and find some interesting things (off offroad, so to speak). We'll pin something of note in Gaia and sometimes come back to research it but at least as often it...
  11. How to learn about the places we go

That Hatfield and McCoy type stuff is fascinating. Also I think it's very easily missed as one might not know where a marker is or even a few abondoned buildings. Not to mention if some of these events are since the camera we might even have pictures of these guys. In AZ we have the Pleasant...
  12. How to learn about the places we go

I’ve been giving a lot of thought to the places we overland/offroad to, especially in regards to the people and events that came before. Everything from the geologic process to wildlife to human civilization. My kids are at that curious age where they have al the questons but I often don't have...
  13. Should I sell my RTT?

Full disclosure I'm currently selling my C6 Rev Tent in order to make way for upgrade to AT Overland Camper (in order to sleep 4). However, it was threads like this last year that helped guide me away from my Roofnest pursuit (weight, cost, on/off by myself, pulley etc.). We had a GREAT time...
  14. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

    Amazing. I'll check that out!
  15. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

@Mules Apologies if you've already provided but any info on that amazing bed bench and kitchen set up would be much appreciated. Custom? Reminds me of the bam beds but better.
  16. Arizona Ultra lightweight C6 Rooftop Tent “Rev Tent” ($950)

Hey Ryan. Up in Mesa. I have a few outside-of-Phx folks inquiring so let me know if you have any questions or want to see other photos and if interested we can work something out.
  17. Arizona Diamondback HD w/ super-duty PakRax rack for sale ($1650 OBO)

They are. Just a simple 2 bolts in the cleat and 2 bolts opposite per side. There is no adhesive or an other substance between the two. (Fabricator cut at exact angle to the Db for this very purpose, i.e., simple connect/disconnect.)
  18. Arizona Diamondback HD w/ super-duty PakRax rack for sale ($1650 OBO)

Overland UPGRADE option: add the C6 rooftop “Rev tent” ($950 separately) for total of $2500 (another $150 in savings and altogether ess than the price of a mid-range rooftop tent!)
  19. Arizona Sold: Ultra lightweight C6 Rooftop Tent “Rev Tent” ($950)

All those rooftop tents (RTTs) we researched were not only $2-3k and higher, but they were also 150 lbs. Then there’s storage and pulley systems and a whole bunch of things we weren’t ready for. THEN we found the C6 Rev tent at Expos West. Takes 8-10 min to set up vs the 2min clam shells but at...
  20. Arizona Sold: Diamondback HD w/ super-duty PakRax rack for sale ($1650 OBO)

First, the kids kept getting bigger, then my wife started to join the camping trips… so now I will be upgrading to AT Overland Habitat (sleeps 4) next month. That means we have to part ways with what is by far our favorite mod to the JT. Whether camping for a week or just off to the lake for...
