I would like to recommend O’Rileys autos you tube channel for anyone interested in the basic operation and troubleshooting after treatment systems. He is a mobile mechanic in the UK but these systems basically work the same way. I have learned a lot watching his videos.

The soot...
I like “car scanner” app the purchased version is worth it and I have the dongle he recommends.
Alpha OBD is highly recommended for FCA products but is much of a pain to use for me.

Some pretty boring stuff but I scanned through and saw 2 interesting things.
1. Those items can take upwards of 8 weeks to set.
2. HCAT is either DPF or SCR best I can tell and you need...
Saw this online:
Check for false trigger: If the issue only occurs in cold weather after the vehicle has been plugged in, the block heater may be the cause. Engineering is investigating a calibration fix for this specific situation.
This is way too common IMO. I have been in the service industry for 30+ years and this is a management issue. They need to know what their employees are doing or not. I have had a fuel line mysteriously come off the fuel pump . Fuel leaks at filter. Lower radiator hose clamp mysteriously loose...

Not sure if this link works! I sat on this from Dallas to Denver in my wife’s Ruby. Only stopping for 10 minutes every 2 hours. Won’t leave home with out it.
Recently had this problem on the wife’s 23 Rubi 4xe. Initially it wouldn’t work but after a restart it would be fine for a while. Then it just quit. Tried everything you have read here and more. Took it to dealer and they replaced the port assembly on the dash. I have read online somewhere the...
The factory manual basically is a list of codes and how to diagnose the system. I would agree to start with the EGR code. I purchased a PDF of the manual online from factorymanuals.com but it’s like 20k pages and fun to navigate. The real deal is a subscription. Either way I have used it to...
I personally have done well with it. That said this is mostly due to the fact the dealership diagnosis through installation of parts. ie replacing a turbo for a cracked intercooler hose. Also the dealership makes a difference.
Find a dealership service department you can live with. Most of my negative experiences with FCA products have been dealer generated. Consider a Mopar extended warranty unless you :
1.Willing and capable to repair it.
2.Don’t mind shelling out and have a good diagnostic technician handy.

I purchased a 23 overland in November 24. Looked all over the country for one. My recollection was Fl dealer had over msrp pricing and dealer adds on top of that. There is a reason they are still on the lot! This is not a deal making dealer they are waiting for the fool who only thinks monthly...
When I purchased my 23 Gladiator I walked onto that dealer lot and the vehicles I looked at all had like 5k worth of deal BS added. I walked off and didn’t even bother talking to anyone. I purchased a new 2016 Promaster from them and wasn’t terribly impressed with their sales tactics but wasn’t...
These systems are a bit quirky and it seems most mechanics don’t really understand how to diagnose. I have two ecodiesel’s on is a Promaster van with a different 4 cylinder 3.0 Iveco engine. I have been trying to learn how to diagnose as the dealer is just too expensive and seems to diagnose via...
You can use some cleanser with oxalic acid such as Barkeepers friend or Zud. Mix it into a paste with water and let it sit on for a few minutes. Might require a couple of applications. Pretesting an area is always a good idea. I have used this method to clean iron stains off brick.
