  1. Moving from a 240 amp alternator to a 400 amp-- any change to the big 3?

This is really good info. Thank you. It also informs me about what I should inquire of for other alternators, in case I still want to go to 400 amps
  2. Moving from a 240 amp alternator to a 400 amp-- any change to the big 3?

This is largely what I am wondering, and more so if it differs for Mopar regular vs. high output alternators
  3. Moving from a 240 amp alternator to a 400 amp-- any change to the big 3?

The voltmeter on the dash will read 12.7 or so at idle and under load, and when coasting will come up to 14. When I have been hauling uphill for a while, for example, it will become jerky under load. It has thrown U-0010 when it does this. I most recently had this when going over Monarch Pass...
  4. Moving from a 240 amp alternator to a 400 amp-- any change to the big 3?

I believe I do. Outside of winching a heavier vehicle (I am sitting just under 7k lbs.), there are a few other reasons: I have a third battery for an AluCab setup that is 130 amp hour that charges from the alternator when the engine is running (accessory fuse tap to turn the charging on and...
  5. Moving from a 240 amp alternator to a 400 amp-- any change to the big 3?

My 240 amp alternator is failing unfortunately. I had a sneaking suspicion but the dealer had only checked the batteries (I still have a warranty with them). More recently I've had some hiccups while hauling uphill from time to time, and it was emphasized while going over Monarch-- but I...
  6. Gladiator Glamour Shots

Visiting what I called home for eight years in the PNW, but with my new setup. It was interesting to be back.
  7. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Checking in: I have a Teraflex 3.5" lift on my Gladiator. With the Alu-Cab installed, I swapped out the rear springs for Dobinson HDs to alleviate the sag and provide almost an inch of rake despite the weight now on the back. However, I am getting inconsistent groan when the springs flex. I...
  8. Rear End Bounce

tl;dr Because the rear shocks are mounted at an angle, they are not nearly as well setup for dealing with repetitive bounce that transfers vertically. I already had the Teraflex rear travel extension accessory kit and still have the bounce.
  9. Rear End Bounce

The shock positioning makes a lot of sense, actually. Good call.
  10. Rear End Bounce

Adding myself to this club. I feel a little thankful that I found other people were having issues and have tried all the things I wanted to try to no avail. It saved me money. So, thank you.😂 I am running an AluCab canopy camper setup. I have a working theory after moving from Teraflex 3.5"...
  11. Cell phone mount

I've been using Vector's rail system with 20mm balls and 67 Designs holders. The install went pretty easy, and will probably go easy for you if you tilt the windshield forward. It'll give me more room to slide things around if I add more items, including a ball for the passenger princess if...
  12. Thors Lightening air compressor.

Been using mine for about two years now. I've been using it more steadily since about October, and am using it at least every other weekend. I went all in and got the four hose system, and I strongly recommend that you get that in conjunction with the compressor. Although I spend more time...
  13. Chase the Stars. Show us your night time shots!

How have the Amber lights been working out for you?
  14. Chase the Stars. Show us your night time shots!

Y'all have some amazing shots of your rigs.
  15. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Hey all! I thought my stiff Bilstein shocks and dual rate Teraflex springs were gonna cut it, but I am getting some bounce on highways with concrete padding and I have an inch of sag. So I am looking at some Dobinson coils. Question for you all: They offer two different springs for a 3" lift...
  16. Are Vented Hoods a Good Idea?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. There are a few points being touched on, which I think bear some more discussion: Yes, they are engineered to stock spec to work as intended. However, I think anyone that's here has a modified rig that will probably demand a bit more of the engine and...
  17. Are Vented Hoods a Good Idea?

Consider: Parked outside Will be used in winter Decent amount of rain in the state I am striving for longevity on my Gladiator, and pulling air through the bay seems to be a decent idea. I do worry about moisture entering the engine bay, and I know it is an eventuality with any vented hood...
  18. Front Suspension popping noise

Coming back to this, since I am getting some popping under decent flex. I did have a shop put in the Teraflex 3.5" lift and ensured the shocks had all the travel they needed for it. I wanna say that it's normal because nothing shakes loose on flat ground, and I don't have any alignment issues...
