You've never drove a 4.0L at 90 MPH?

Yes, the 4.0L can push a Jeep at 90 MPH and even into a headwind.

Mine would easily accelerate in 3rd gear all the way to the speed limiter at 96 mph.

I can safely say a 05 Wrangler Unlimited M/T can do that. It might have been towing a 16ft Scamp Deluxe trailer at the time too. FYI droning along and getting in with some traffic isn't ideal.
Definitely not a fuel friendly driving style.

On how the 4.0 automatic transmission and "doing 90 mph or faster" I can say it doesn't have a problem in XJ or especially a Comanche. My Comanche has had the speedometer rapped all way around to the 5 mph on autobahn in Germany and CZECH Republic FYI they have a speed limits on theirs. I might have "found that out" in 1997. Not a small ticket..

I don’t know man. It’s a big thing in the XJ community. I was on NAXJA all the time back in the day. 20 yrs ago. I know way too much about XJs.

Oh, dang I was on that one back in the day myself.

On Comanche with 4.0 hauling tail, it definitely did surprise several and pissed on some egos in Germany.... having a Jeep pass them.

This was right as I learned that CZ republic has speed limits. That's right around 90 mph there. They got me a few km back, and we're catching up.
