I was recently trying to install a sunshade that required me to loop bungee cords around the roll bar at the front of my JT. I was trying to get them over the top of the roll bar and under the windshield, around the roll bar and back in to the cabin.

However, I appear to have a foam seal between the top of the roll bar the underside of the top of the windshield that forms a tight barrier.

See pics below for the gap I am talking about and the foam seal above the blue PVC I was trying to squeeze in the gap:

I assume it is some kind of weather stripping and / or shock proofing so the windshield doesn’t bump / shake against the roll bar.

My question is do the rest of the JTs have this down seal between the windshield and roll bar top? Is it only the 2026 models? Is it a factory seal that’s supposed to be taken off?

Any feedback / help would be appreciated. The sunshade manufacturer says they are not aware of any such foam strip in JTs and that their product should fit.

Hmm, somebody else must have a 2026 JT. I can’t be the only one. 🤣

26 JT Willys hardtop. I took the freedom panel out and tried to fish a zip tie between the upper windshield frame snd the “sport bar”. No luck. It appears that there is some kind of fairly dense weatherstrip material filling that gap as you described. I couldn’t see it in your photo. Maybe you’ll have to lower the windshield to get something through that space. Good luck and post what you figure out.

Ok, that’s reassuring and great news that’s it’s not just me or mine! 🤣

I thought about folding the windscreen down to get a better look, but if it is factory installed weather stripping / protection then I’m not sure I want to mess with it anyway. I’m assuming it’s there for a reason.

If I feed something through the gap or compromise the weather stripping I don’t want the weather coming in. 🤔

@Cattywumpuss if you do fold down the front windscreen, i'd be keen to see pics to see if/where jeep has added any new sealing for the newer models.

So far I haven’t had the windshield down, but I’ll be sure to document the process if I do.
