The last fuel pump I replaced was on a 1995 Dodge Dakota. Now I know the dealer should be aware if this is the case but on the Dakota there is a specific orientation to allow the gauge sensing arm full range of motion. Maybe I’m just being negative but I don’t have a lot of faith in dealer mechanics. I’m sure there are many good ones but they are likely dispatched to more complex work.

Yeah, I used to be a Harley mechanic. We used to diagnose the problem and try to fix it. Nowadays, kids plug a laptop into a vehicle....check a code....and start swapping parts until the code clears. If that doesn't work they apparently say "sorry" and send it home ?:(

When the staff is so young that they can't drop me back at work because nobody can drive a stick, that's not a good sign. LOL
