I have a 2021 Rubicon. Want to get a hitch to be able to tow. Looked under the truck and I have this bar with no hitch installed. It's a 68368181AA, which is the bottom assembly in the pic below.

Can I just order the hitch portion? Doesn't seem like it would be strong enough If I just bolted it into the piece I have.

Yes, they make a receiver that just bolts to the cross bar you have.

Yes, the one with the receiver welded to the cross bar is stronger.

Yes, it is easy to swap out the whole assembly.

Buy the whole receiver - not just the bolt-on piece.
You will be happier. There's a difference in towing capacity between the two if I recall.
It's no place to cut corners, and the whole receiver assembly is simple to install.

Thanks, I figured the new assembly would be the safer option.

Yes, the Class III is rated for 6,000 pounds.

The Class IV is rated for 14,000 pounds.

So, the Class III is rated for the max the JTR can tow and is "good enough", BUT the Class IV is a better set up all around.
