I originally had the older version but earlier this year they were offering a free upgrade to this new style so I took advantage of that. These new ones are brighter and a better beam pattern than the previous model.
That's great to know. I'm about to order them in white. Should work for me.

Check out @Diode Dynamics Elite Series fogs, they look like a good match to OEM headlights.
I've two concerns (possibly unfounded, but I just don't know better):
  • The mentioned radio interference would really suck. We are using GMRS regularly and we do like to listen to FM radio when traveling. Not sure, if it would really be a problem, though. Haven't found all too much regarding this, most tests/reviews never mention it.
  • I like neither blue-ish light nor yellow light. I like the 5k K temp generally okay, a bit lower would be even better. Yellow, I might be able to live with if it has a real reason to go there, but I really dislike blue tint.
Otherwise the SS3 Pro would probably be my choice since they do have the light pattern I'm looking for (slightly higher and wider than the BD). Not sure how they are adjusted, the BD seems to be a bit awkward in that regard, but at least they have the 5k color I'm looking for.

Thanks for mentioning these concerns!

We have limited reports of radio interference but if reported users pickup ferrite beads to eliminate the issue at hand.

As for obtaining a warmer color temperature, it is possible with the SS3 Sport or Pro coming in at 4300k due to our lens swap hack found below:

Ah, that’s an interesting option. I’ll have to think about the various options and then decide.

Not too thrilled with the possibility of debugging RF interference, but it might not be a problem.

That's understandable being concerned about RF on your setup.

I really appreciate this and believe it’s a great option and policy, but after talking it through here we decided to get the BD lights in white and LED headlights. That seemed to be the option to get us most of what we wanted for the least “non-stock” look. I might still mix and match with one of your lights in the future. Already have the hitch mounted backup light …

It had been sitting on the shelf for nearly half a year or so – I finally got to the point where I was looking for "single tasks projects" that I could do in limited time between breaks in the weather. Now it's installed and should help us when backing up.
