I’m thinking of putting some Nitto Ridge Grappler 275 70 R18’s on my Overland with no lift (for now). Has anyone done this and has pics? Do the tires run at all? Did you need to flash the system to accommodate the new size? I may put spacers in the front to even out the rake. Would love to see pics of this! Thanks!

Following this as I also have an Overland, also want to take about an inch of rake out (or 1.5, undecided until I SEE how it might look) and do tires better for snow and ice and crud.
So - very very interested in your results!

i did 285's and man it was a huge difference in looks compared to the stock overland tires. in my opinion it was well worth it. i dont have pictures with me now but i can get some tomorrow if needed. i dont have a lift YET either.

as far as snow the tires were SPECTACULAR.... we got hit with 2 feet of snow last week and i never had to use 4wd and didnt have any traction issues (and i dont have the anti-spin diff. i blew through about 1.5-2 foot snowbank at end of driveway like it wasnt even there. ive used dedicated snow tires on past vehicle and id have to say these are pretty close to as good.

I am concerned foremost about performance - snow, ice, etc. - but also don't want to have to crank the music up from 14 to 20 just to hear it over tires.
But also looks is honestly in the mix. Heck, my Silverado had tougher looking tires! They were wider and meatier looking.

Also interested in "how tall" the tires are folks are going to on Overland - not interested in 35 or larger at all - won't be crawling up the sides of the Grand Canyon (this is Iowa, mud, rocks, rivers, snow and ice are our thing, some backroads and such.

as far as noise i honestly didnt notice anything different, and i dont really crank the music often. now ive had these on a month or so but ive had the hard top on so i can speak for when doors/roof is off. but with windows down i dont notice it. my only gripe was my mpg went from 19's to 16's (but i havent corrected the speedo yet) and the are very heavy tires compared to stock (i believe an extra 20lbs per tire) plus a more aggresive tire as i understand will always lower mpg's, but of coarse i didnt buy this to save gas haha . im up here in NH so im almost exclusively road driving and very rarely LIGHT offroading. it was done for mostly looks and i gave me about a 1" lift. it really looks how it should have looked from the factory

Thanks. That's really helpful. The Overland stock is VERY quiet- I'm impressed with how quiet it is (except for all the wind we have here at times)
Your larger tires will be turning fewer revolutions now for each mile. That means the speedometer - actually the VSS, will tell the system you aren't going as fast or as far so that could be part of it.
I would expect a drop with any tire that has a tread more aggressive than what these come with (which is most tires) and with more weight - yeah. Takes more to get more mass spinning and keep it moving.

I have the 275/70/18 grapplers, speedo is only off by 2mph. I bought these because they were pretty light for a a/t, 59 lbs.

That looks great! I’m going to have to upgrade I think. I really want to lift it, but my wife complained constantly about my lifted 4 Runner. This would be a nice upgrade- performance and appearance wise and give just a slight lift. All I need for the occasional snow/off-road excursion. Thanks for posting!

Definitely going to try for better snow and ice tires - ice storm moving in again today and I cut errands short to get home before it chased me home as I know how bad these Overland tires are on ice and snow.
I thought about just enough front lift to take some of the rake out. Not all because I WILL tow a car hauler and don't want the back to sage with a trailer on back, but want it to have less rake. It's not a dragster or a Model A truck either.
So better tires, a bit less rake, with perhaps taller springs on front, some Rubicon front take-offs may be an inch taller??
Won't take much to do what I want.
My dealer said to take it to the tire store down the road and those people would reset the speedo for me when done. (they don't do any custom stuff themselves and never have "Take-offs" - they send everything out to get it done)

This looks so much better than stock. I was contemplating getting different wheels and tires, but might just upgrade the tires.
