I am curious about running Trutrac instead of lockers. I am an occasional off-roader and my JT is my daily driver. I currently have an lsd in the back but I heard they wear out quick and I have 70k on my rig. I am not looking to invest the money in an air or e-locker. Any advice appreciated. Thx.

I’m not, but I’ve definitely thought about it for the rear if I re-gear. I drive my gladiator more aggressively than most and my trac lok puts in some work for me. I’d be an odd ball but I’ve thought about trutrac rear and arb locker up front.

I do but not on my JTR. I have a '92 Wrangler YJ with front and rear TruTracs. That thing is unstoppable, mostly, if you are not lifting tires in the air too much. If you do just modulate the brakes. I'm sure that on the JT with the EBL they would be fantastic.

Oh yeah, I had one in my POS XJ years ago. I almost forgot about that. The brake modulation comment reminded me.

I'm running them in my 2015 JK front & rear. They worked great until I lifted and went with 35" tires. Now they don't seem to help. I just spin 1 wheel most of the time.

Wait, the LSD's wear out quickly?
That is what I heard. Because they work similarly to a clutch, with friction plates, they wear. The more they are engaged the faster it happens. I have heard as soon as 30k miles.

I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but I did notice that mine started making noise around 55k. I did a diff service and the noise went away and I tested it and it still lays down 11s. Relatively low mileage, but I can definitely vouch for the fact that they need servicing.

I put Tru trac in rear of wife's liberty and it was a night and day difference. we don't even air down in sand anymore. The liberty does everything my TJ did. Amazing for what t is. True trac are gear driven, no clutches to wear out. When my Sport s Gladator LSD wears out I'll do both front and back w Tru track, and prob gears and 35's
