Has anyone installed one of these mounts? What I'm looking for are all of the actual dimensions to see how high it will sit above the dash, how deep is it, how wide it is, etc. If I buy one I'm not going to use it completely as designed so I'm trying to figure out if I can modify it to use it the way I want before investing any money into it. I'm not interested in the "cubby" on top for a phone so that part would be cut off and a plate of something to cover that hole. Once that is done then i would cut out all the switch openings to allow for a second compact radio to be mounted beside the "CB opening", That way I could mount a mini CB and a GMRS side by side. This would also give me the option to mount the remote head from the HAM radio either on top or to attach it elsewhere on the dash. But the reality of this ideas is how big is this thing? It might be too gaudy to have sitting on top of my dash.

Do you need all those radio? That’s a lot of bulk in a limited amount of windshield view/space.

To each his own. I personally have zero use for the AM/FM/ Sirius/ ipod crap that you can't actually turn off. If I have a radio on it's usually the VHF/UHF scanning thru the local frequencies I have programmed. But this option does up space on the dash so that's why I'm looking for the actual dimensions to see if it would be acceptable to me. I would much rather have communications options and not need them, than to need them and not have them.

I ask because you can just open up your ham radio and get your ham/GMRS covered with one radio. I also ask because CB is not used very much in certain areas. Was just trying to declutter your dash.

Honestly that is an option I had not considered. But the GMRS was basically free and the CB is still useful with many of the folks I know, as well as when traffic comes to a stop on the interstate the truckers will still use them. Both of the non ham radios are only 4x4x1 so they are pretty small. Not enough room in this thing to mount my SSB CB. I just don't like my current mounting set up so I'm looing for other options. I have a way to mount them directly on top of the dash but I prefer to limit the look from the outside, which is why I asked the original question. I don't want some idiot to bust out a window to steal a couple of cheap radios off the dash because then they might steal something else of real value. Hiding them in a small enclosure like this mount would keep them from being obvious.
