Auto start/stop and HVAC

New Gladiator owner and had it out a few weeks ago with the tops off. Didn't seem necessary to have any climate control so I turned the system off. A while into the drive I noticed the Auto Start/stop wasn't engaging. Didn't give it much of a thought. A few days later it was a cool day out and decided to turn the HVAC system off and, again, noticed the Auto start/stop wasn't engaging. I turned the HVAC system on (Auto setting) and auto start/stop started working immediately. Can someone shed some light on why the auto start/stop doesn't work if the HVAC system is turned off?
