For over a year I've bene using the KBVoodoo VRS rack. It's a great rack that works with my tonneau cover - and it allows me to carry Kayaks and other outdoorsman gear / hunting gear for longer get away trips and adventures.

Unfortunately, the lack of storage space under the tonneau is sort of a downer - especially when I want take my german shepherd on trips with the family (he can't go in the back since the two year old is back there).

After waiting a year, KbVoodoo decided to make a rear gate - but for a different rack system even though the VRS wasn't even a year old - so bascially my rack was outdated with no further updates to come.

I've thought about buying a bed topper - but the prices are pretty crazy, and I just am not a huge fan with how they look. I decided to finally take the plunge and use other manufacturer parts and put together a rear gate. I also had a few T slot extrusion pieces left over in the garage that I used.

My main goal was to:

- Have a rear enclosure to prevent stuff from falling out and to enclose the back
- Be able to fit dog kennel / other large bins for longer trips
- Lock
- Prevent large items from being able to be grabbed out of the back (security)

I purchased the Zroadz rear gate along with some conduit connector - and had to modify/fabricate with an angle grinder, drill, and a sawzaw - and topped it off with a little paint.

In the end - it turned out perfect for what I needed. It is indeed a frankestein job so to say - and theres a few things I can do to make it look a little better, but for basically under $300 - I got what I needed.

The wife and I have a week off that we're going to get away to camp in the next week or so and I'm excited to put it to the test with carrying larger totes / dog crate / etc.

Thanks.
