For a couple months in late spring while it was still cold, after being left overnight when starting the Jeep in the morning I got a belt squeal. The noise is high pitch, lightly oscillating in synch with the engine which rises and falls with RPM. The noise lasts for less than a few minutes at most before vanishing.
Over the summer in warmer and drier weather the noise has not occurred until this morning when it appeared again. We were probably in the mid 50's last night and damp.
This is a 3.6 AT with 30k miles, no engine mods. I bought some belt dressing to see if that cures the issue, but what am I encountering here? Just some residue on the belt or is this a more concerning issue like a potential pulley bearing failure?
I'll take it to the dealer soon and mention it but I'm betting they won't be able to reproduce it without the hassle of leaving the truck overnight for a few days.
