Following the instructions on the above thread so I can confidently remove/reinstall doors over the summer without worry. Have a question for anyone that has gotten this fix to work.

I pulled my plug apart for the 1st time, so I know all the pins are straight. I used a small screwdriver to push the tabs on the outside so I could "Close" the latch without the door side male connector in the female connector. I can use a small screwdriver to "Pull" the plate from the back of the connector to the front and it moves freely.

Question is, is there supposed to be some type of spring or something to keep this connector near the front of the PINs when the two harnesses are disconnected?

I pulled the plate to the front, and reconnected the door side connector, Everything went together fine, all electronics worked, ect... But when I disconnected it again, the plate stayed at the base of the PINs, it did not move back to the mouth of the connector.

I guess I could use the screwdrive to pull the place forward every time I take the doors off, but that doesn't seem right. The taps on the side of the place don't seem long enough to catch anything to bring it forward when the connector is opened, is there something I'm missing? Another option?

I think it's just pulled down by gravity under normal operation. I say this because I've notice it move on it's own when going slowly while lining it up. When everything is perfectly in place it'll slide freely up or down. Could be that mine is out of whack though, my pins were bent the first time I took the doors off. They've stayed straight since then with me being extra cautious (or lucky?).

Thanks, Mine slides pretty easy using a small pick/screw driver, I just hate the idea of doing that every time and eventually tearing up/chipping the plastic away. Wish I could come up with a way to easily pull the thing down whenever I take my doors off. Maybe something sticky on the eraser end of a pencil or something like that....
