Remember that most grill openings and radiators are sized to support towing the maximum load of that vehicle up hill with the AC on in hot weather.

So if you don't do that, the cooling capacity is far in excess of what the vehicle needs for normal use.

I see your point. When I had my TJ eons ago, I had the black aluminum inserts to protect the AC condenser from sand eroding and getting clogged with crickets and grasshoppers. Granted this was in Texas, but while sitting in traffic she’d get pretty hot.

Eons ago cars overheated. Generally speaking modern cars and trucks don't overheat unless they are pulling something.
