Exactly what the thread topic says - In your opinion, what are the best tires for overlanding on the East Coast and why?

This is specific to going off-grid and camping / trailing. Not specific to mud, rock crawling or basic trails. This is all around - on road and off-road, specific to the East coast.

Thanks.

My 2, that I will run for DD and your described use will be .. Toyo Open Country ATIII in 35/11.50R17 Load "C" and/or Falken Wildpeak AT3 in 35/12.50R17 Load "E" (Falken did not show an 11.50) -- IMO great tires for the Bucks. Will be interesting watching the replies to your post.

Based on the recommendations of some very experienced overlanders (Scott Brady, Dan Grec, and Chris Shontz who are friends of mine) We've gone with the BFG KO2 34 10.50 ATs. These are the tires they recommend for global travel, so pretty sure they'd be worth a look for the East Coast. Hope that helps. A much smaller tire than what most Jeep owners run, but overlanding is not rock crawling, so there's that.

I have a buddy from Durban who mentioned KO2's are available in his part of Africa. Very popular, he approved of the 315/70R17's I swapped on to my JTR.

He uses his Diesel Nissan pickup to launch his surf boats, so all weather street tires are his choice - sand is a special case.
