Hi all, I thought someone may have some insight into this. New Gladiator (EcoDiesel) with 400 miles. Occasionally there is the smell of burning rubber. I mentioned this to dealership who promptly stated it was from the rust inhibitor that I had them apply upon delivery and it would stop. It hasn’t stopped, AND I’m seeing all these stains on my driveway. I didn’t consider this to be an oil leak due to how dispersed the spots are. Any thoughts?

Was it an oil based spray on rust inhibitor? maybe it is burning off the exhaust and liquefying?

It’s called CorrosionFree and is supposed to be drip free and odorless. Website doesn’t say if it’s oil based unfortunately

To me, that looks like classic undercoating oil drip. And that stuff does stink when being burned off. Typically, depending on how much the guy put on, you see this for a good week.

Yeah its from the application of CorrosionFree. I used the same rust inhibitor product. Its awesome stuff and coats your truck with a Vaseline like texture. It has a weird rubbery burnt smell to it and it does drip a bit as evidenced on your driveway. You're fine.
