The other thing is the idea of simply doing it "right". This is an intangible, I realize.
If you are talking about replacing an entire light housing that claims to be plug and play, I agree, zero worries about heat. In that case, the entire system was engineered to manage the pointless generation of waste heat.
The issue comes up more with replacement bulbs "guaranteed to not trigger a bulb out indicator".
