Can anyone tell me what this is, and if the residual oil is a concern?

I took this picture today. The part in question is in the center of the photo, with the bolt head on it, a boot on the right, and what appears to be wetness from oil on the piece directly to the left of that bolt head. This piece is where the steering column meets another part, and there seems to be oil where the two parts mate. Can anybody tell me if this is a cause for concern? I'm under warranty and will take it in if it appears to be an issue, but I'm not if sure this is something to be worried about right now.

The part to the left, attached to the steering, is the steering gearbox. It’s tough to tell if that’s a hydraulic leak from the gearbox, or from something above. It could even be a spill from an oil change. I’d look directly above that to see if the oil is coming from above. If not, I’d check the gearbox fittings and/or seals.

I believe I noticed the same thing on my JT today. I took a picture of it but I took it from the other side and underneath the truck. Are you having steering issues? I developed a wobble in my steering wheel last week. Its only with I hit bumps between 40-50MPH and it goes away after about 5 seconds.

I haven’t noticed any changes. I may take it in next week to have it looked at. I’m not overly concerned because I have another 27k on the warranty. Frankly I’m a little less concerned now that somebody else has the same issue, but that’s probably an irresponsible way to look at the situation.

If you take it in to be looked at, temper expectation as they tend to look at fluid staining as not a true leak until droplets form and may not act upon it.
