Earlier in the week I installed new running boards with drop steps. They look really nice and are light weight and very sturdy.
The problem with them is they mounted in a way that left the lower pinch weld exposed, and it looked like shit!
so, off to Lowe’s for 2 Pieces of 8’ long 1.5”x1/8” aluminum flat stock.

Measured and marked mounting holes, cut to length, shaped ends....now I chose use an automotive wrap (2” wide) to cover the stock, rather than painting....we will see how it hold up, but it looks damn good!
total cost, 36 bucks for aluminum stock, and about 15 bucks for the wrap tape....Total time.....1 hour or so.

Love them. They look really nice and make it easy to enter and exit. I‘m 59 as is my wife. Im a reasonable big guy (6’2 and 200 lbs) and have always been rather agile. This past 2 weeks Ive damaged a Patella Tendon in right knee and had Minor surgery on Right foot.....I’m not 25 anymore.....the steps are great. I have no plans of heavy rock crawling or HARD trail running. I love the look of my Glad with a 2” lift and 35’s, but with a bit of age comes a bit of knowledge and “some” limitations ( as bad as I hate to admit it!).

Cool. The term is used consider in Extreme Long Range shooting and sniper work. I‘ve shot ELR for several years...2000 yards plus And usually have a spotter or Shot Caller out past a mile.

Great work....!!! So, the question after these years would be, how did it held up? Wondering if you would've preferred to paint'em instead of wrapping. I'm thinking on doing the same. Not a fan of "the gap".
