Working on finalizing my order with the dealer.....he says '23 ordering opened yesterday and mine will be going in as a '23......so perhaps that explains the price increase.

Oh wow. Any new options show up on the build sheet so I can enjoy immediate buyer’s remorse?

The jeep dot come site still shows only 2022, no mention of 2023.

I have a feeling mine will end up being cancelled. Ordered May 2nd, still as of right now not even scheduled to be built.

Hard to tell what will happen given all the supply chain challenges. If mine comes through as a '23, I'll be fine with it. just don't make me wait six months!

Well, then I doubt I have much of a chance. Ordered 5/26.

Your orders aren't going to get cancelled. They're not going to switch your 22's to 23's. If you have no patience at all then you shouldn't have ordered in the first place.

I’m in no rush, but it would be really helpful to have a vehicle by October. Besides that, I can wait.

Wow, really?
I've ordered and bought a number of new vehicles - but this type of delay - no schedule, is different.

They can't switch model years, you get what you agreed to buy (or you get nothing - and that has happened in the past when they could not meet demand). It's a given they can't switch things on you. You can't order a 22 and then be told here's your vehicle - a 2023. They can ask, but can't substitute.

But to not even be scheduled to be built says - they are missing parts - or there's some other issue at hand.

It ain't my first rodeo, but it is the first time I've seen a vehicle go this long and not be scheduled. Even when orders are way behind due to production demands (like in the 1980s when AMC was running 3 shifts all week long week after week and your order from December was built in February) they were at least scheduled - but that was the middle of the model year. There will be a point where they have to drop the prior model year production.
In the 80s, there were people who ended up not getting vehicles, they just couldn't produce fast enough. Dealers were told to contact customers and try to get them to buy off the lot. Happened twice to me. First time I said yes and they took one on the lot and added the options, the second time I said no, we'll wait for exactly what we ordered. It was 3 months. (some didn't get theirs - the ones that ordered in the summer)

The problem with a trade is that there is a drop-dead point. They will no longer, they can no longer give you what was talked of because of the changing markets and the drop in value of your trade.
The trade value is based on age and miles and it's a craps shoot as to what things will be like in 4 months. That's why of all the dealers I talked to about ordering, and a trade, told me they'd not even talk to me about my trade until the new one arrived because they saw the arrival of new ones being at least 3 months out. They won't agree on a value that's several months out into the future. If they'd arrive in a month, maybe 2, some will take a risk, but Gupton and others wouldn't discuss trade. Most said "when the new one arrives we'll decide what your trade is worth.
I don't have a huge pot of money sitting around to agree to that. I had to know what my difference was going to be - or forget it.
So - I bought based on the difference. If a new one takes so long to get here that they'll no longer honor the price on my trade, I have to cancel out. There's so much money in the pot.
I can't blame them if too much time passes and they say this truck is no longer worth what was discussed - after-all, other dealers wouldn't even talk trade.
Looks like most others ordered, no trade, and didn't have a maximum amount to worry about.

A trade would definitely complicate things right now. I'm not trading anything in, which is one reason I don't mind waiting.

Good luck!

If I wasn't trading, it would be different - maybe.
But even the first time things rested on my selling one of my cars, my Chevy truck and getting the money from that to combine with a bit of inheritance money. If I hadn't been able to get what I needed from those other vehicles, I wouldn't have this JT.

This time it hinges on the trade value of my 2020.

I was just at the dealership checking my status which is still D1. My salesman told me that 2 people ordered 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sport S's the same day in March. The one is around $42k. It was just built last week and is waiting to be shipped. The other is $10k more and went from D1 back to D. It has the Xtreme Recon package so that must be a supply chain problem.

He also said that some dealer orders for 'stock' inventory have had certain items edited out by the factory like hard tops, steps, satin grilles etc so that those things can be saved for customers' sold orders. So you think you're frustrated? Imagine being a dealer that orders for their inventory some Overlands with body color hardtops and the factory changes it to soft tops!
