On my 2016 - 2024 Nissan Frontiers, I used a Garmin dash cam connected to a Garmin OBD2 Constant Power Cable for power. I ran the cables down the a pillar and into the lower trim panels for a clean, hidden installation.

I recently picked up a 2024 Jeep Gladiator. It looks like I could pretty much mirror that installation, but I was considering using Bulletpoint mounts for both the dash cam and a wireless phone charging mounts and I have a few questions.

The Bulletpoint mounts use the trays on the dash. Q1) Is it easy/difficult to run power cables down through the tray behind the dash? Q2) How difficult is it to tap into the cigarette lighter power?

TIA

You can fish wire fairly easily from the top down to the 12V power source or the glove box area where the AUX cables are (if equipped).

There's a lot more space on the left side for hole placement and wire management than the right side. The picture below shows a USB wire pulled from the right side to the area below the glove box, but I ended up fishing a wire from the left side to the same area.

You can remove the screen to access the panel below that has the cigarette power module. They sell an adapter you can plug behind it to give you +/- leads without affecting the 12V source.

There's USB access to the media module on the right as well using adapters but I don't recommend it. It's primarily used for integration and doesn't have enough amperage to power or fast charge a lot of devices.

Does the screen have to be removed to access the panel containing the cigarette lighter?

I do have the AUX option, although admittedly I have not thought much about using the AUX buttons. Would the camera and wireless charging holder each require use of it's own button? Would that even be a preferable option over the cigarette lighter adapter?

Thanks for the images and explanation above. That is very helpful.

I believe the screen does not need to be removed. You can remove the panel below the screen to get to it but it's a pretty long horizontal piece with hidden screws. There are a few videos out that kind of show how -

The AUX group is a huge convenience. There's a constant 12V and ignition power source bundled together if you want direct access to the battery. There's a group of dedicated ground bolts near the right door connector, and another bolt that gave me good ground under the carpet near the middle.

AUX 1 and 2 have 40 amped relays and AUX 3 and 4 have 15 amped relays. You can find the wiring bundle behind the glove box to the left and taped up.

For AUX 3, I put a smaller fuse in and have 2 USB buck converters wired in with some 2 pin connectors I had on hand. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D4HHSP7Z?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1). I used 5ft USB cable and had plenty to work with when I fished it through.

I put a Kicker Hideaway sub on AUX 4.

Found a picture I took with the glove box removed (taped aux wires to the left, buck converter/USB around middle)

I ran the cable for my dash cam down the side and under the seat into the console usb on my 24 Mojave. Super clean and very easy.

I really like that install, with the ACC I'm having a hard time finding one that doesn't block the windshield view. Which model do you have? Any chance of a pic of what the camera sees in that location?
