Gosh I wish there was a VCDS for Jeep….. ?
There is. It's called AlfaOBD.

But neither that nor VCDS can do some of the things that the Tazer can do. To potentially be able to, you would need to keep your laptop connected and running that program at all times.

One reason I was leaving my bypass cable in place was so I could use JSCAN on my phone to adjust idle speed while winching.
I may do the same for plowing snow.

Otherwise I use AlfaOBD and JSCAN mostly for diagnostics or simple settings changes.
I do like the direction JSCAN is going on their "trail view" screen.

See, to me that sounds like a perfect reason to use a tazer. Instead of a cable running under your dash to your phone, and worried about the cable interfering while you are driving, and messing with an app on your phone with Jscan, you just hit a button on your steering wheel to engage a preset idle rpm with "winch mode".

Not sure where you had the idea you needed a cable to use JSCAN or AlfaOBD.
IT's all wireless. Bluetooth
I can have the phone in the mount with no cable.
And there are several idle RPM choices.

Sorry, I don't want to have buttons on my steering wheel do anything other than what they are originally programmed to do, nor the expense of a tazer for the simple things I do.
One app does everything I need to do including diagnostics, and a neat trail view feature, and more to come. All for about 23 bucks. (plus the bypass cable)
So, for under $100, I can do anything I want or need to do.

You aren't driving while choosing your idle speed for winching - at least if you are driving - you ain't needing the winch! And, you can be outside of the truck with the winch remote and use your phone to up the idle.

See, this is what I get for waking up in the middle of the night (it was after midnight here) and posting while trying to fall back asleep.
I know this.
I have AlphaOBD myself.
On my phone. Just a brain fart. Sorry.

You mentioned doing it for plowing. I was thinking more along those lines where if you were going to do it you might want to very quickly turn it off and on. I don't have Jscan, but I know even changing one setting in AlphaOBD requires many key presses and possibly a reboot. Not something I would want to be fiddling with while plowing.

I'd think that if I could just get it to idle at even 1,000 RPM it would be nice - not necessary, but nice.
JSCAN made it pretty easy to set the RPM. I've not had enough snow to really tax the truck or plow and really doing 3" that's drifted is playing more than working so time will tell.
Heck, we used to drive automatics all the time with the idle at 1200 RPM while the choke was warming and coming off and some cars with more radical cams won't even idle under that RPM.
At least if I find I need or want it, I can set the idle and toss the phone in the fob holder.
I like the plow control in the phone holder as that's the more critical thing to have close.
Anyway, I've only played with the JSCAN idle RPM settings once or twice just to see if it really DID work. May or may not decide to use it. For winching it's definitely a plus.

That's crazy.. my used 100.00 snow pup knows to increase the rpms..when additional load is required! ; )

I Unmarried my tazer to take it to the dealer and asked the to reprogram certain things they said I was. Better off doing it with my tazer.

That's because it's cheaper since you already own the tazer, and some things they can't or aren't allowed to do.
But the biggest thing is money when some say "we can do that for $150" - why not use the tool you have?
It's not that it's "better......." just that you are better off because of the money.
And again - some things they can't change or aren't supposed to.
Tire size - yeah, any fool can do that, but a dealer is going to charge you, so why?

My dealer said they couldn't adjust tire size - said it is an aftermarket mod and I needed to call X company. Being niave, I called X company and they told me they 'might' be able to do it for $380. I told them I'd deal with my speedo being off.

I just got everything for jscan...thanks for this thread and info. I'll give it a try this weekend after it warms up down here in Georgia!

That's truly sad. My dealer could and would - but told me cheaper to do it myself.
Heck, they put the different tires on my truck! (and they matched internet tire prices which sort of surprised me.)
Well, now you know. Kudos for looking around, asking and finding out the first answer isn't always correct or good or right.
