Love mine. Plenty secure, not going anywhere. Just a note, you are supposed to notch that plastic out so the latch catches the bed steel. You'll notice theres a notch in the latch with the almost exact thickness of the Jeep's bed frame pinch weld.

Ah sorry if I missed it, just saw and was like oh I’ll mention it anyway. I kinda drew lines where to cut with a knife, then used aviation cutters to snip the plastic off. It bends there so getting the blade in is easy. You could use a utility knife also, mine was dull tho and I needed to beat the rain so I cheated

Question for Diamondback or anybody else...any ideas of how to carry MaxxTraxx on the outside on the Diamondback Switchback?

I was thinking about trying to develop a mount to be placed on the main mount / brace, where I can mount at least two on top of each other going with the wind, and when I need access the bed, rotate them sideways along the center mount.

I haven’t yet! As I really haven’t had the need to use the top for holding anything down. If I do use it, it would be for some bikes, and would totally Be fine with the original mounting positions! But I love having the ability to do that if I need to! 400lbs static and 900lbs dynamic is pretty darn awesome.
I didn’t track down the squeak, that’d probably require my wife driving and me laying in the truck bed! Ha! I can only notice it when my top is off, and i have to really be paying attention!

Older thread but picking up one of these switchbacks. My question are you able to only fold one panel back and somehow strap secure that? Not sure why DB didnt do that.

First pic is the middle cover which has two anchor pieces mounted already on the underside of the panel. The second picture (shows the panel closest to tailgate) is where they should have put two anchors (red mark) which would allow you to just fold one section back and still have a latching point. I'm unsure if you can add that since you wouldn't be able to tighten the locking nut in the beam with no access to tighten. Basically have to just put a screw in it?

(third pic) Just noticed the two nuts that hold the outer bracket on the panel closest to tailgate. Wondering if you could put an anchor plate on the underside of the existing plate holes but just use a little longer screw?

Just adding this for anyone thinking of adding mounting points on the sides of the switchback so you can use straps across the cover. Found this from a user on the raptor forum. Pretty cool idea.

No, you really just flip one panel back and there is no way to lock that into place. It risks being driven unsecured. That’s a great idea, but I’ve never been in the situation where I wished I only needed one panel open. If I do only flap one panel I am driving through town and not worried about it flopping back over. If i am going high speeds, just flip both panels up and secure one or both straps.
I am having a hard time following what you’re after with the pics and red marks my friend I apologize. I’m going to summarize what I think, but I don’t believe you’d want to just flap the tailgate panel up and drive at higher speeds. There are two c clamps that are on panel 3 (closest to cabin.) Those c clamps keep everything on. What use case do you think you’d run into where you are only needing one panel flipped up? Just flip them both up and secure it as designed, in my opinion.

The mounting plates and panel hinges are mounted together. I would get this is to keep the minimalistic of the panels and not have an exposed anchor point in the middle of a panel. I hope this helps! Thank you for the response raidergladiator. I agree there will not be too many times I could see myself needing just one panel flipped back, but I have on occasion had a larger item that sat higher than the tonneau and wished I could just leave enough room for that item. Had a Revolver X4s and that was an all or nothing type tonneau no way to just secure part of it, it had to be rolled all the way up to the cab. I thought a couple anchor brackets on the bottom portion of the "tailgate" panel of the switchback would allow you to have just one folded back. Diamondback FAQ even states you can do this, so I wondered why they didnt actually put on a secure attachment point.

"Can I drive with just one panel folded back?
Yes, as long as it is secured. The Switchback is designed with a built in strapping system for securing a fully stacked cover at the front end of your bed. If you prefer traveling with a single fold, you will just want to make sure the panels are secured with Ratchet Loop Straps and Anchor Plates, or similar."

I'm sure something can be devised but would have been a lot easier for DB to add this anchor option. I appreciate you taking the time to take pics for everyone along with answering questions. I'm excited to get my Switchback which is in transit. I really do like the install process vs the HD/SE that requires the bed rail have shims applied which does not look fun.

Got my Switchback. Love it!! Sturdy and looks great. Did have a little issue with the new handles and locking into the trail rail but seems to have worked itself out after repositioning.

I’m considering getting a switchback and have a couple questions for those that have one:

1) Has anyone tried mounting traction boards on the bottom side of the middle panel. Seems like an ideal location in that they would be locked under the cover when folded flat and easy to get to since they would be sitting right on top of it when tri-folded up…?
2) It’s hard to tell from the pics but what’s the exact height between the bottom of the cover and the top of the ridges in the bed? Trying to see if a cooler with a height of 17.5” will fit underneath.
2) Anyone have the wingman slider bin? What are your thoughts on it pros/cons?
3) What is the height of the space underneath the wingman slider bin? Trying to determine the max height for a storage bin that would fit underneath it.
