I have some BD squadron R pro amber on my cowl , they are awesome . I just installed the DD ss3 pro amber in my steel rubicon bumper and I’m very impressed with them also . Now my problem is I’m wanting to put the ones in the title on my bumper but I’m having a hard time deciding which ones . Any opinions from Anyone with either of them would greatly help lol. I am sure there both awesome . Thanks

Not many people have the DD SS5 yet I bet.
I have written about my SP and SS3 ad nauseum, but basically I like the color temp better of Baja but the lens technology of DD focuses light better... depending on what you want.
I swapped by SPs out of my fog lights because I felt like I was distracting/blinding people and would never turn them on.
The SS3 are awesome as well, light is more tightly focused so sharper horizontal cutoff and no driver glare, while providing a wide even beam for fog. Perfect.
Driving in the desert or woods, I'd prefer the BD actually as it is more spread.
I put LP6s on my bumper and use them as backroad/desert lights and love the output and spread.
I still have my SPs on my a-pillar but don't really use them because I don't like the glare off the hood.. not sure what to do with them. Don't want to sell them, may be overkill to angle out and use as ditch lights.

Hey Jerry,

Great question! The 200 degree spread of light and unique combination of 3, 10 and 20 watt LEDS mean our LP Series provides a beautiful blend of Zone 1 through Zone 5 lighting. There is a lot of crafty marketing spin on how TIRs are superior which doesn’t tell the entire story. Many are unaware that our first to market LED lighting solutions featured proprietary projector and TIR reflectors. While we accomplished impressive distance the sharp cutoffs and lack of transitional light resulted in a clear disadvantage when navigating terrain with every changing elevation and obstacles. While we continue exploring every type of reflector, through 20+ years of racing we continue reverting to what you see in our solutions today. The intentional sacrifice of distance for transitiona; light provides for a much more enjoyable driving experience through a variety of terrains.

If the earth was flat I can confidently say BD would have continued down the path of TIRs and projectors. Enthusiasts should also keep in mind that DOT and SAE standards are really designed for the safety of oncoming traffic which is why the majority of modern vehicles feature TIRs and projectors. Fortunately OHV lighting solutions are not heavily regulated meaning Baja Designs ClearView Multiform Optics are designed for the most enjoyable behind the wheel experience. This does mean using the lights responsibly when vehicles are approaching.

I hope this helps clarify some questions you may have. Please feel free to call us directly and I can give you more information. 760-560-0383
