Emergency Brake Handle swap

If I wanted to swap plastic non leather E brake grip for the leather stitched one, what’s involved? Can I swap the leather part easily or is it the entire unit that needs to be installed, and adjusted etc

From a parts break down perspective, the mechanical assembly is replaced as a whole.

That being said, someone on the JL forums mention a method at the link below. Sounds like a pain if you ask me.

Might want to check out a local upholstery shop and have one made. Might be cheaper and would be less time consuming. Could even add a custom touch to make our unique.
